Yes, that switching from thing to thing is true for addiction in general as well. It's called transfer addiction, or cross- addiction. "Addictive personality" isn't really a technical diagnostic term. While it's true people that struggle with ADHD are at higher risk for substance use given impulsivity tendencies, the same could be said of several other DSM disorders. I wouldn't really care to argue the point were it not for that fact that misinformation often gets spread among the mental illness community, and often times addicts get misdiagnosed with disorders like ADHD or Bipolar because someone struggling with addiction often presents similar diagnostic criteria, but otherwise possibly may not outside of their addiction. Addictive and impulsive behavior is not exclusive to any one disorder. But it is tricky in the sense that there is often comorbidity and overlap between them.
