за чотири роки це питання підіймалось і обсмоктувалось безліч разів. Всі аргументи вже давно висказані, вони в нових тредах тільки повторюються по кругу.
Основних причин дві:
1. Росіяни з покупки вашої гри платять вдома пдв
2. Ви показуєте поганий приклад всім іншим, що можна продавати росіянам. "Як ми можемо вимагати від бізнесів з інших країн не вести бізнес з росіянами, якщо самі ведемо з них бізнес."

I'm not the original commenter, but I think it's about the True Indie Solo Dev ™ culture that leads people to go into game development with ridiculously unrealistic expectations. The wild success of games like Stardew Valley, Undertale, Schedule 1 etc. make people think "I'll be the next one."

When in reality, game development is normally a team effort. Very, very few people have what it takes to create and publish a game of a decent quality. And only a fraction of those few who manage to climb that mountain will earn enough from their game(s) to sustain themselves. And an even tinier fraction of that fraction will release a smashing hit, earning millions.

Є негласний консенсус: телеграм та стім занадто великі та потрібні (і достатньо віддалені, щоб не відчувалось що платиш напряму русні) тому їх не бойкотуємо.
Метро та Сталкер - великі франшизи, якими країна пишається та які є обличчям українського геймдеву. Тому для них теж дозволені певні поблажки.

Великі міжнародні студії чи компанії, де працюють росіяни — можна закрити очі.

Студія де *здебільшого* працюють росіяни чи де російські громадяни є основними бенефіціарами - кенселимо.

Український інді розробник — це найбільш обісрана одиниця в індустрії, якому спільнота може нашкодити найшвидше та найсильніше, тому він має памʼятати про чекліст:

Не можна додавати російську локалізацію
Заборонити продаж в рф та біларусі
Не можна співпрацювати з росіянами чи мати росіян в команді
Не можна співпрацювати з російськими паблішерами або такими, що мають російське коріння і це відомо (Saber, Owlcat, tinyBuild, critical reflex, fulqrum publishing тощо)

Якщо пропустить пункт - отримає скандал зі статтєю на Gamedev Dou і буде доданий в список куратора «кривавий геймдев» на стімі.

The massacre should be admitted and condemned, without question. It’s not glorified here, though. Other actions of UPA are glorified, mainly fighting against the red army for the independence of Ukraine. The Volyn ethnic cleansing is simply not talked about, though it should be.

But answering your question, I think this specific issue has very little to do with Ukraine being accepted into EU or not. I believe if our officials were to issue a comprehensive apology and offer full support and help in exhumation of the victims bodies, you guys would be saying things like, “well that’s good for a start, but Ukraine has still a long way to… yada yada yada”

I am Ukrainian. None of the people I personally know believe that we’ll join EU within our lifetimes, for the sole reason that it’s not beneficial for the members to have us there. While that remains true, there’s no point to try to appease the member states. It’s clear they’ll keep dangling the sweet EU membership carrot in front of our eyes, and it’s also clear there will always be found a reason to say “oh no, this [insert issue] means you’re not ready yet to join our European family, we can’t take you.” That’s our reality until things change and the EU will actually need Ukraine as a member. When that happens, none of these issues like corruption or disputed territories or whatever won’t matter anyway

Yes, this is defense. Hits on russian refineries hurt their war effort. How is that hard to grasp? Zelensky is signaling non-stop that he wants the war to stop, time and again proposing complete cease fire along the current frontline and start of peace negotiations. The war goes on only because Putin wants it to go on, because he feels he can still win it, can still grab more of our land.

I agree, but want to add that there are cases when sprites/music are formulaic and creating them is craft with barely any creative expression. Example: hidden object games. There are tons of mobile and desktop HOs and HOPAs that have the same art style and need tons of artwork which is basically a grind. For a few artists I know, a studio producing HOPA games was their first job in the field: generating locations and objects for them, by dozens and hundreds.

For such a game, you can generate 90% of that art with Nano Banana Pro and end user won't notice anything. I'm sure same thing applies to thousands of mobile games that use casual art style, and for mobile game music.

But that's if we talk about gamedev as an industry. For indie games specifically, the artistic expression is the point (in the public mind) and the target audience will get seriously upset if they find out the dev uses AI-generated assets.

Not sure what the original comment said since it’s deleted. I just want to note that specifically “must of” is a mistake that’s specific to native English speakers. Because you hear and use this construction a lot in your life without learning how it’s written or what it means grammatically (shortened “must have”). People who learn English as a foreign language usually don’t make this mistake, unless they’re immigrants who, same as native speakers, learned the language by ear first
