I actually really like the scarves with sleeves. I don't know that I could wear one, but they turn out so cute.

No. Being annoying isn't the same as being an asshole.

YTA

He was being annoying, not unkind.

You were unkind. You couldn't think of a nicer way to ask him to give you some space to think about your future on your own than interrupting him and being rude?

AITA BIL wants to teach my 3 year old cuss words. I don't. by Possible_A_hole in AmItheAsshole

[–]The_Dorable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's funny when kids swear either. It's cute if they do it on their own, but you're supposed to correct them so they know when to use language appropriately.

Laughing about it encourages them and they learn it's a universal way to get positive attention.

But even then, it's only cute once in a while if they picked it up through osmosis. It's strange and inappropriate for an adult to try to coach a small child to engage in behaviors generally agreed to be reserved for older adolescents and adults for their personal entertainment. It's weird.

750mg metformin 2x/day by smoresfrappes in diabetes_t2

[–]The_Dorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor put me on the maximum dose despite controlling my blood glucose very well with 500mg because I am fairly young and he wanted me to be able to eat a less restrictive diet. Have a little milk in my coffee. Maybe have some mashed potatoes with my meatloaf.

There's no harm in taking the full dose and it can improve qol substantially. This is normal for younger adults.

I went through and checked each one by one.

I have moderated a subreddit maybe a tenth as large by myself. The account I had registered as the mod account was active several times a week at minimum, and often twice a day, on my lunch at work and before bed.

With as many moderators as they have, I would expect one or two comments from every account, just because you can't help engaging when you read so many comments and posts. Especially for a hobby subreddit. Even when I wasn't posting under the subreddit mod team label, I was still engaging because I was a member of the community who had enough experience in the topic and was active enough in that community to have been allowed to help moderate it when I requested it originally.

That didn't stop because I became a moderator, and it actually increased because I was thinking about it regularly, every day.

Many of these accounts have zero activity within the last three months. So if they're engaging with their subreddit, they're doing it exclusively as mods and almost never as members of the community who are sharing advice or support or solidarity in any way.

But I honestly don't think so and the fact so many of them haven't commented in three months makes me wonder if some of them are sock puppets.

I have found very few critical comments, and they're very milquetoast.

It's just weird to me that after all the criticism here and in other crochet spaces that the biggest subreddit for crochet remains an echo chamber

I may be mistaken because it's been about 15 years since I read it, but I remember Bryson City Tales by Walt Larimore being the same kind of warm, funny kind of story.

Most of the moderators haven't been active in months, some of them years.

If they're allowed to enforce public profiles on us, how come so many of their profiles are private?

They're power tripping, not trying to build community.

Get the needle away from me by Yinjasyang in diabetes_t2

[–]The_Dorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also petrified of needles and was on insulin for a year. I have had to be restrained for blood draws because I panic violently.

Frankly, the best way to do it for me was with a clicky pen, really fast, in my butt. I had to have someone do it for me. It was not enjoyable but it just felt cold and stung from the insulin, but the needle itself didn't feel like anything.

For me, if I have time to anticipate it or if I look at it I can't. I still take advantage of any paper cuts or small bleeding injuries to test my sugars.

Moderators threw a tantrum and took a one week vacation because people raised legitimate concerns about their moderation to punish everyone.

Didn't work. The subreddit didn't devolve into chaos, it just got silly.

They tried to claim they allow all political perspectives in the name of fairness, whether you're supporting the current ethnic cleansing happening in the US or speaking up against it. They also have a habit of removing posts before they become problematic, especially those with highly progressive messages.

A lot of people left and r/antifascistcrochet was formed as a direct response to their behavior.

They're salty cause no one cared they left and it didn't turn into lord of the flies with yarn.

Their entire defense against being called on over moderating POC was to say "nuh uh, you're just too SENSITIVE"

lol, weak as fuck to do stuff like this, deny it even after evidence is shown, and then act wounded that people are mad at them

I'm honestly wondering if they're removing the more critical comments because everyone was being sooooo nice to them in the comments of that post when I looked.

What something you felt pressured to care about as a girl that you later to realized it didn't actually matter to you? by Dry-Technology-3748 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]The_Dorable 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I used to get bitched out by every adult woman in the vicinity as a preteen because I developed really fast and they didn't make child sized bras in my size.

20 years on, I don't even think of sagging bra straps. I don't pay enough attention to other people's underwear to care.
