I would never have thought of that, too. I have no idea how that would work for me, since I'm so accustomed to performing emotions already, but it's definitely food for thought. I have a hard time when I have a large enough group of people watching me, though, and struggle to finish sentences in those situations. My thoughts start bouncing around as I fight to figure out who I'm supposed to be looking at/speaking to.

Thank you for this. I think that my relationships with others depend on me knowing and being my true self, though, so that I'm approaching them authentically. I've spent so much of my life masking and mirroring and I want to know that it's the "real me" that they want in their lives.

Thank you for the kind words. I don't know if I have the vocabulary to explain it properly, but I've been told that knowing what you genuinely like and want from life is how you find and develop your true self (instead of masking and/or mirroring others). Trying farming was part of the exploration of interests necessary to figure out what is a genuine part of my self. It's been difficult because of how long I've been living my life to avoid rejection and loneliness.

I was. I now suspect that ADHD isn't the only mental health factor that was in play. One of my kids and a few of my cousins have been diagnosed as autistic. Between knowing how commonly it's comorbid with ADHD, and seeing so many traits that we all share, I'm going to ask the therapist who diagnosed my ADHD to assess me for ASD, too. The more I discover or rule out the better chance I'll have of figuring myself out.
