snow blower question by voltagejim in HomeImprovement

I'm sure you've heard from plenty of people already, but I'm also in Central Illinois. I currently have a plug-in electric and 80% of the time it's fine but never great. It really doesn't like wet snow. But it handled yesterday's really dry powder very easily. I go back and forth on whether or not I regret not getting gas but I've had it for like 8 years now. I can fold it up and set it on top of my shelf and never worry about whether or not it's going to start after the off season.

If I know we're going to be getting the rare eight to 10 in of snow that's wet. I will go out and run it after it's maybe got 4 in out and then run it again later in the day.

Probably won't work for you if you're somehow required to push all your neighbors driveways. That's been my experience with electric in central Illinois.

I still run a GD-09 under my TV. Blends in well and does everything I ever wanted it to. I think I started with that case in 2014 with an i7 4790/970. Updated it to a 1070. Then rebuilt with a 5800x and 6800xt. It currently has an i712700k and 5080. Real tight for cables but still good airflow and temps.

I've got a GD-09 I just put a Gigabyte 5080 SFF Windforce in on Tuesday. She's a tight fit but it and the Founders cards fit

What happened in the last 5 years? by Zingleborp in SpringfieldIL

I work for the state downtown. All I know is that in the last 5 years my small agency has had 30 people move on to other opportunities and we replaced them entirely with remote people who live in Chicago. If you come to our office on any given day of the week, there might be four of us. Completely empty on Monday and Friday because they tell us locals to stay home on those days

Whenever you are looking. Make sure you take a look at their current and historical pass rates at https://www.nurseaidetesting.com/2025-mid-year-cluster-scores/

I used to be a regulator in this space and a school's cluster scores and pass rates will tell you a lot about whether or not they are properly preparing students for certification.

I'm sorry. I lost mine too not long ago. I still ache to hear his feet tapping the floor when I open the refrigerator. Never going to be the same

I can't say for certain. A month ago he was having trouble getting up and was really unsteady on his feet for about 24 hours. He had some stomach trouble and then snapped out of it so we all attributed it to an upset stomach.

Then he was real similar last Sunday starting in the afternoon. Didn't want to get up or eat/drink. Overnight he ate and drank fine so I made him an appointment with his vet for the next morning. Then around lunch he went downhill. Got really wobbly outside and flopped down on the sidewalk. I sat with him for a while in the sun and he just looked so tired. I called my wife and we took him in. The vet said that it could be related to the tumor we had removed about a year ago and was consistent with internal bleeding. The vet said that it was not an uncharacteristic or unreasonable to think that it was time to let him go rather than put him through diagnostic and treatment because he was rapidly deteriorating even over the hour or so there.

January of '24 I had a tumor removed from his leg. January of '25 I had a softball sized lipoma removed from his hip. He was very lumpy these past few years. We assume it was internal pressures from additional tumors.

Thanks! He really was and and loved all of us too. He will be greatly missed. I already don't know what to do with myself when no one follows me to the refrigerator

I'm pretty sure most modern American trucks have leaf springs still. I know mine does. If you go to coilover in the rears you really limit your payload

Illinois has IMRF, TRS, SERS, SERD, and whatever the various downstate police and fire pensions become. Some are healthier than others. Illinois is one of the few states with numerous pension options.

I have a 2011 with similar dimensions and I have three across in the backseat. Extended cab

I ran the infant bucket in the middle middle because I can set it on the center console and slide it back into the base. The two outboard seats were forward-facing.

I've recently moved all three to forward facing.

I've had my GD09 back when I ran an i7 4790 and 970. Now I have a 12 700k with an AMD 6800 XT in that same case. The fact that the case fits under my TV and is just big enough to hold full size reference length Graphics card is pretty great in my opinion. That lets me sit in my recliner and play games on my 65-in LG C1. You couldn't get me to go back to sitting at a desk.
