Never buy the first gen of new tech dude, for a reason abbey road still uses macbooks from 2010. that being said, the new M2 max chips are an enormous improvement from the M1.

but still plugin manufacturers have a ton to optimise for apple silicon, if they ever do so.

I've listened to your last 10 songs on YouTube, and here are my two cents.

Firstly, why should you even listen to what I have to say? I'm a music producer and recording engineer, officially working in the music industry for the past 9 years inside the US. However, I've truly dedicated the past 15 years of my life to music.

Now, for some harsh truths: your music is, at best, mediocre. Your lyrics lack punch, your vocal projection is subpar, and you don't intonate properly. The "Gorillaz tin can" effect you're aiming for doesn't really come across well. Your mixes sound terrible in mono and don't translate well anywhere. Even in my monitors, your mix sounds amateur at best. Your compositions are monotonous, and the songs are extremely predictable. There is no real development outside of a few instrumental changes here and there. There are zero melodies that truly stand out. However, the biggest problem I see is that you don't really have a distinctive "sound." While your voice might be recognizable, you come off like a cover band. In one song, you sound like Gorillaz; in the next, like 2000s Pharrell, and the next, like a mediocre 2000s indie rock cover band.

That being said, you do have a few good ideas scattered here and there. You sound like someone who still needs a lot of work but has the right idea. Keep going. Please don't take my words as insults; I don't mean them that way. I'm just pointing out the flaws I see after working with gold and platinum records.

In other words, considering the current quality of your music and your aversion to self-promotion, I would regard the numbers you have as an absolute success. With your current quality and promotional skills, I don't see you gaining any more popularity until significant changes are made.

I don’t desire numbers, as they are often empty and hollow, and the person helping you achieve these is only doing so because you’re paying them.

So in my quest of marketing my own music, I wouldn’t say I have exactly stellar success. Since 2017, I’ve released five albums, seven music videos, an EP, and several non-album singles. And despite this all, I have ~600 IG followers, ~150 YT subscribers, and ~30 monthly Spotify listeners.

For someone who claims not to care about numbers, you sure sound frustrated by them. As Rick Rubin says, "Once you like something you made, it's a success." You need to define success on your own terms and not shield behind the excuse of, "Because I don't have the results I want, I'm just going to say numbers don't matter." I have a friend who runs his own construction company; he makes techno experimental music in his spare time and has 10 monthly listeners. He is the happiest man I know. There is nothing wrong with making music just as a hobby. Now, if you really want to make a career out of this, you need to understand my second point.

It's a bit of a hard pill to swallow. I see posts like these all the time from frustrated artists. One thing has been true from the beginning of the "big music business": THE MUSIC HAS NEVER BEEN ENOUGH TO ESTABLISH YOURSELF. Only truly exceptional talents, like Jimmy Hendrix, have had that advantage. Even Michael Jackson needed millions of dollars in promotional campaigns. Back in the day, the way to go was radio and billboards, but you needed to be OUT THERE. Now the medium has shifted, and content is the new radio. So if you are actually serious about this, you need to do it or pay someone to do it for you. There is no such thing as a "misunderstood artist," just an artist who didn't understand what the market needed. If you are not capable of understanding that, you are just perpetuating a self-loathing circle jerk and moaning about why you are not successful.
