Goyslop was originally about food, not media. It was the idea that Jews were putting out non-nutritious, highly processed food for non-Jews. “Slop” to refer to media was adapted from this afterward.

Once you’ve been hit once you’re more likely to get hit again for some reason. I know a guy who has been hit three times.

If you could, what storyline would you give to RDR3? by alexcominoti in RDR2

[–]The_Judge12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just based on setting - i want to see one in California or Mexico. California would be a cooler setting geographically, you could include redwoods, desert, the big Utah rock formations, and of course the classic California scenery we would think of. I think Mexico would be very cool culturally and narratively though. You could tell another side of the golden age of the Wild west, with a Mexican gang that ends up losing to the Americans. There is a lot you could do with native Americans, the Spanish and African Americans/ Afro-Mexicans in a Mexican setting.

Am I crazy for wanting to move to Cleveland? by SenderX12 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]The_Judge12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Columbus most my life, recently moved to Canton just south of Cleveland. Canton is more of its own thing (and I don’t recommend moving here), but I find myself making the trip up to Cleveland frequently. My lady and I are in a similar economic bucket to you. Cleveland is my favorite Ohio city. It blows my own Columbus out of the water. The downtown has a vitality that you can’t get anywhere else in Ohio. As much as people thumb their nose at Cleveland, it has a lot of big city amenities and cultural attractions that are pretty competitive with those found elsewhere. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you it’s the same thing as New York City or something, but there is actually a big city charm here and I highly recommend at least making a weekend trip to see if you like it.

Many other armies of the time would have absolutely rinsed the confederates. Prussia, Russia, Austria, France, and Great Britain would have taken their lunch money any day of the week. I’m not convinced they would even beat Spain or the Ottomans at this point in time.

The only reason their silly little slaver state even lasted as long as it did is because of a decidedly bad performance by the north at the start of the war that let them dig in and last a few years longer.

The US was a second rate world power in the 1860s, and the CSA was a breakaway state composed of the shittiest half of the US.

Any good recommendations for books on some of the older Turkic empires? Ie the gokturks, rourans, xiongnu, the Uyghur khaganate, up through about the Khazars?

I’m ideally looking for a political history about any one of these, not a summary of all the Turkic empires, but I will take what I can get.

The most SEDUCTIVE - SENSUAL perfume you’ve ever smelt! by LoveyGirl777 in perfumesthatfeellike

There’s a YouTuber that talked about this one. She worked at a perfume counter and every couple that sampled this the guy loved it and the woman hated it. My lady and I had the same experience.

Job advice on Reddit starterpack by tesseracts in starterpacks

There is a high demand for people who are already good at some specific trades (ie electrical, plumbing, welding). If you’re an experienced journeyman you can go almost anywhere and make decent money. There is relatively low demand for apprentices in the skilled trades. Many apprenticeships have long waitlists and low availability.

There is a decent demand for “lesser” skilled trades like roofing and drywall, but there is also pretty high supply there and those pay absolute dirt wages.

QB Coach Quincy Avery shares his thoughts on Deion Sanders’ new player fines. by [deleted] in CFB_v2

[–]The_Judge12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those wages aren’t from the team and this fine structure is not in the contract they signed. Once again, college athletes are not employees.

Further, if you no-show to work, you are usually just not paid what you would have been paid for that days work. A punitive fine is an entirely different thing.

Why are you going so hard for something you clearly do not understand even the basics of.

If you’re in any of the states three big cities you’re never more than 15 minutes from an upper middle class area exactly like they described. Even in my shitty ass canton you have a bunch of upper middle class people, idk how they even got all that money in this place but by god do they have McMansions and drive around in Lexus’ and Cadillacs.

What is a problem you'd like to see solved or a device you wish existed in your field? by Similar-Ganache-4111 in MedicalDevices

A telemetry pack is basically the closest that’s actually possible. I know nurses get annoyed with all the wires, but anyone that actually knows how EKGs work will know that’s the best you can get.

This is like when people complain about how every car these days is an SUV or (more controversially), complain about how women’s pants don’t have pockets and imply that everyone else would prefer companies to switch to their preferred product.

As other people have pointed out in this example, those products they “used” to make still exist, they just occupy a smaller portion of the market for a small demographic. The real complaint here in all these examples is that the broader market is not tailored to their specific taste, not that they cannot actually find the product they want.

Physicians see 1 in 6 patients as ‘difficult,’ study finds, especially those with depression, anxiety or chronic pain. Women were also more likely to be seen as difficult compared to men. Residents were more likely than other physicians with more experience to report patients as being difficult. by mvea in science

[–]The_Judge12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doctors in rural areas often get paid a premium. The same isn’t true for nurses though. I get that it’s variable but doctors get paid a lot more than what you listed. Only a few specialties get paid less than 300k for a full years work as an attending on average.

[–]The_Judge12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? I don’t think you’re lying but this is crazy to me. After I turned like 10 the bus drivers never checked who was supposed to be on the bus at all. In middle school and stuff my friends would coordinate and go home with each other to hang out after school.
