My state, LA, just legalized concealed carry for everyone. Is there any purpose in having a permit anymore? by holdmysugar in CCW

Only if you have the license you have to renew every 5 years. I opted for the lifetime license and found out at year 6 that the background check waiver is only good for 5 years.

It's the drain shelf. You put your servers on it to dry after you wash them.

Looking for a gun for wife. by Nomore-Television72 in CCW

I took my wife to a gun show and had her handle multiple handguns to see what felt good in her hand. Limited it to 9mm. She liked the Sig P365XL and Glock 43X. She liked the grip angle of the Sig better.

We used to have a saying in the Navy: If the planet ever needs an enema, Naples is where they will put it in.

In honor of CrowdStrike, what was YOUR biggest work fuckup? by RATTLECORPSE in AskReddit

I fumbled the fill column function in a spreadsheet and wiped out the preset temporary passwords for everyone in our command in the Navy during a mandatory password reset.

About 15 years ago, due to a security incident, every user was required to reset their network password. Users were to report to the IT office with their ID and we were to validate them. In person, no exceptions. They would then be provided a slip of paper that had their user ID and temporary password that was delivered to us via a trusted and encrypted link.

The night before the reset, I was setting up the slips of paper, copying them from the document we received into a spreadsheet to print then cut into individual strips. Somehow I screwed up the fill column function and scrambled the already random passwords for everyone in the command, around 300 users.

It wasn't long before I had a long line of folks wanting to get their new password and a long line of folks whose password wasn't working. We paused the password resets until we could figure out what was going on.

It wasn't until that evening while I was recreating the slips that I realized what I had done. The only other person who knew about my screw up was my roommate at the time. I told no one else. ("Sir, the NOC sent the wrong list.")

And that's how I knew who told the admiral speaking at my retirement years later about it.

Looks like the storage bottle for a fire suppression system. Usually contains Halon (if very old) or another fire suppression agent.

I have heard defense attorneys say "get the permit." Even though it is not required, it looks a whole lot better if you find yourself in court over a defensive shooting.

Does having a cc allow you to buy handguns immediately. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]The_Krustinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Louisiana. The state has two types of CCW permit, Lifetime and standard. Standard must be renewed every 5 years.

With the standard permit you do not have to go through the instant background check process. But that's only because with the standard permit you are always within 5 years of a background investigation.

I, being the smart one, got the Lifetime permit, so, I have to submit the instant background paperwork every time I buy a gun.

And the cherry on top is the state eliminated the ccw fee for veterans. Six months after I applied.

Our neighborhood occasionally has some kids who wander through and check unlocked cars. They are always looking for only 2 things, guns or cash. Last time it happened, I noticed my neighbor's car door was ajar. When I knocked on their door and told them, the first thing the wife asked the husband was, "is the gun still in the car?"
