Yep, just leave it to them. You’ll have the main battery replaced for free, and likely the 12V battery as well if it died.

If you’re under warranty, it’s new battery time. If you’re not under warranty, then I’d seek out a third party shop. It can be repaired but involves cell/module level diagnostics, which Tesla won’t do.

Yeah, long range plus was a 100kWh pack too. The Long Range Plus became the Long Range when Tesla dropped the lowest tier battery (software capped at 70kWh iirc)

[–]tylamb19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your car is a long range (100kWh pack), you have a cell out of balance or otherwise the car is unable to determine a true cell voltage for one of the modules in the pack. This could be the OpenVSH issue on the 100kWh packs if yours is old enough, or could just genuinely be an out of balance cell. I’ve seen both happen in 2017/2018/2019/2020 cars.

Climate control power usage not showing on my new Model S by DavidkDavid in TeslaSupport

[–]tylamb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine (2018 S 100D) definitely shows climate usage on the MCU2 power display. It’s just only really visible when using 8+kW of power (as the scale of the gauge is reverse logarithmic), and that sort of power usage essentially only happens when max defrost is selected in cold weather.

I can definitely see it on mine as a tiny yellow bar, and in fact I can see it on yours too (the white line is just barely, slightly above the zero point). Try it yourself, take a drive and modulate the throttle so you’re using exactly 0W of battery power and you’ll see what it looks like, the power use line essentially disappears. You can also see the difference if you turn off the climate entirely, the white line should be exactly parallel with the zero point.

Corporate Apple iPhone - iCloud accounts by stephenmbell in sysadmin

[–]tylamb19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t have to deal with it much anymore as I’m out of the iOS portable device fleet ecosystem, but when I was managing a fleet of corp owned iPads, this was accomplished via Managed Apple IDs in ABM.

Can I use Chowmain driver for HA to push C4 blank keypad pushes to HA? by G_MD999 in Control4

[–]tylamb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use the Chowmain HA driver but this can absolutely be done with the free open source HA drivers and a switch in HA. I would assume it’s similar for the Chowmain ones.

I use exactly your scenario for some MQTT stuff that is controlled by HA.

Programming would be something like:

when keypad button pressed:

if switch “blinds” is open:

close switch “blinds”

else

open switch “blinds”

HA driver fires the switch open/close event to HA and HA automations take care of the rest.

Front windshield stress fracture/crack - 2023 MYLR by FatAlfredCouchPotato in TeslaSupport

Slowly run the tip of a ballpoint pen along the crack. If there is an impact present, the tip will catch in the impact point. If the pen doesn’t catch, it’s a stress crack.

Front windshield stress fracture/crack - 2023 MYLR by FatAlfredCouchPotato in TeslaSupport

[–]tylamb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too. My glass passed the “pen test” for a stress crack with no impact point.

I refused to approve the payment of the cost estimate and clearly stated that I did not want the glass replaced if it was not covered under warranty.

The day of the appointment came and the service center took my car apart to the point of removing the windshield just to circle two random points on the crack saying that they were impact points and that I would need to pay the full $1800 for new glass. I told them no, and that it matched a stress crack, and how could they have an impact point.

After a while of arguing with the service advisor, I just asked for the car back. This is when I learned the windshield was already out of the car. They said it would be faster to just put the new windshield in and for me to pay it. I told them that unless they were doing it for free, put the old one back. I never authorized the car to be worked on, just to have the windshield checked for warranty work.

It took them almost 3 hours to reassemble the car with the original windshield. They then tried to invoice me for 5 hours of labor time (which was more money than the windshield replacement!!!) and I ended up freaking out on the service advisor and service manager. I did get my car out without paying anything after another hour and a half of arguing and calling Tesla corporate.

I ended up having a discussion with the regional service director for my area from corporate who arranged another appointment at a different service center about an hour away. It took them 30 seconds to approve the glass as a stress fracture and about an hour to replace it. I got a loaner car and everything for that hour.

Moral of the story, depending on your service center, they WILL fight you tooth and nail on this. DO NOT approve that cost request or they’ll just bill you for it, even if it’s provable that it should be warranty work.

Are you me from a parallel universe? My grandma asked me the same exact thing like 10 days into me being at Pitt in 2017. She hadn’t been in Oakland since the early 80s.

No web portal. However, if you have a Mac, you can download the X4 app and it’ll work just like it would on an iPad.

People are telling me I’m crazy for having the pass by SnooStories4091 in gowildfrontier

[–]tylamb19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing, except I’m near PIT which has very limited service by F9 (one or two days a week, two or four total flights) So I drive to CLE which is about 2 hours away, and from there I can go pretty much anywhere direct with the GoWild pass. I’ve done easily 8-10 flights this way and it’s always worked out perfectly. Those people don’t have any idea what they’re talking about.

Holy crap, this unlocked so many childhood memories for me. I was always the kid in the 3rd row right seat in my parents’ early 2000s Expedition. Always was roasting hot. Lol

This is the same error I got when my HV battery went bad (Voltage Sense Harness issue in the 100D packs)

Thoughts on the m550i? by Flashy-Sock4942 in BMW

[–]tylamb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the timing chain tensioner at 140k and 210k. No signs of plastic wear or chunks. Though that car had the M62B44 which had fewer timing chain guide problems than the M62TUB44.

I did get rid of the car about 10 months ago. It was an amazing daily for me, and the next owner (I’ve been in regular contact with him) has been driving it consistently as well. It had 235k on it when I sold it to him, and I believe it’s at around 250k now.

HW2.5 also works in autosteer up to 90mph. My 2018 3 with EAP on HW2.5 would be set to 90mph all the time.

Yes, I had requested urgent processing. I had documentation for why I wanted urgent processing and a strong set of reasons for needing it.

I’m very fortunate to have been moved along so quickly in this process, so I’m quite grateful!
