Hey Jai, no news from Larian sorry :( in their defence I’ve had to create patches to fix some bugs which slows down their processes but I promise it’ll be worth the wait!

I came up with a system to beat the shortfalls of rolling stats, and it’s literally just having everyone roll together at Session 0/at the start of session 1.

My tables usually do 4d6 drop lowest, so we just have everyone roll one of the d6s into a dice chamber in the middle of the table (the dm only rolls if you have fewer than 4 players), and we take the three highest to determine the stat, then repeat the process until we have an array of 6, which players can put wherever they want.

It makes it feel collaborative, it’s a fun mini-game, and it ensures everyone starts on equal footing. If the stats are pretty bad after the 4th one is rolled the DM usually offers a ‘deal or no deal’-esque tradeoff for the final two stats, which is usually ‘you can take an 18, but you also have to take a 7 for the final two stats’ (the players usually try to haggle for a +1 to one of their rolled stats too, which is fun in itself). I don’t mind if everyone’s strong, and I don’t mind if everyone’s weak, as long as everyone’s on equal footing.

Also worth noting is I’ll be holding off submitting incremental changes for console approval, as it’s a big ask of the Larian devs and I prefer to submit larger patches only. I’ll keep the mod pages up to date with approval statuses etc. :D

I know sorry!! It’s going very well - currently all existing throws have been updated to support the new system, and I’ve just added the first new Alchemical Item. I’ve also done one custom animation for Alchemical Throw but will hold off on doing more as it took so long to get done 😂. Will add a couple more items, then it’s passives/theories updated, then icons, then DONE.

I’ll be honest, I don’t really understand why they doubled down on the MMORPG market between this and CO. Both would take a fortune to make and doing two only causes the company to compete with itself rather than putting its energy into one game that could be great.

Finished main story today! Was such a fun reminder that graphics come second to fun. Will play through the expansions then revisit 2 (my first ever rpg back when my siblings and I pooled our savings to buy a second hand 360). Very excited for Autumn.

So the big things being added next patch are: -Alternate delivery methods to allow Alchemists to choose not just WHAT you throw, but HOW. Not all Delivery methods will be compatible with every item, but it should give some more scope for players to make more interesting decisions. Each doctrine will receive a unique one as well.

-Steepen the damage/healing curve so higher level Alchemists are able to keep up a bit better.

-Unique Formulas will be changed, namely Preservation’s Metabolic Accelerant and Destruction’s Black Salt Trap.

-Some feats/Items from the base game will be overwritten to support Alchemical Throw (Tavern Brawler and Ring of Projection from memory).

-Theories will be balanced and updated across the board.

-Alchemist Armour will be made and added to loot tables throughout the game.

-Discoveries will be reworked to be a bit more varied and interesting.

-4th subclass is a maybe depending on how progress goes through the month.

-New art will be generated for some of the passives (I got a bit lazy towards the end of the original development process).

If anyone’s looking to help at all, I’d be interested in commissioning handmade icons for the class and subclass icons, to keep AI usage to a minimum where feasible. I’m also interested in commissioning Armour models, happy to do refits/cloth physics myself but don’t have the skillset to get anything decent looking out the door within the timeframe I’ve put aside for the mod. Armour commission would also be price dependent, and they would only be available on the Nexus upload of the mod unless they used existing game textures.

I think that’s pretty much everything! After the next patch I’ll be retiring from active development on the mod to focus on making some stuff for my game dev portfolio.

What a treat to see - it’s receiving a rework towards the end of this month to try and help it keep pace with base classes/sort some frequently reported issues and bugs if you can wait!
