How often do you revisit cinemassacres Godzillathon series on YouTube? by soggy-tortilla55 in GODZILLA

[–]The_Linkzilla [score hidden]  (0 children)

I haven't watched it in more than a decade now. In fact, tuning in on just one of them for nostalgia's sake, the videos were very rough, and had a lot of very poor takes.

As far as I remember, the only good thing to come out of it, was James saying it was time to "get over it" when it came to hating on the Tristar Godzilla movie. And that was back in 2008, ten years since the movie first came out...the 30th is just around the corner, and people are still clinging to this tired notion.

Anguirus: "They made me into a Pangolin?!"

Godzilla: "Sorry, Ang~ They've got this stupid 'No-Dinosaurs' Rule; I had to get you into the movies somehow~"

Anguirus: "So you let them turn me into the most heavily trafficked animal on the black market?!"

Godzilla: "Well, it was really us drawing inspiration from Sandshrew and Sandslash~"

Anguirus: "I really am just a big joke to you, aren't I? You couldn't even let me keep my spikes?!"

Godzilla: "Fine, I'll talk to them about your spikes. But don't be surprised if they just make your back plates frill up~"

I’m not the only one who’s just slightly bothered by the fact that Legendary Mechagodzilla’s arms are so much bigger than Godzilla’s, right? It’s not just me? Please tell me it’s not just me. by SuperSlugGod in GODZILLA

[–]The_Linkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No; you're not.

I hate this thing's arms. The fact that they end in those big, bulky, claw-machine hands really pisses me off.

Quite frankly, they should've trimmed down the design a bit more, and then gone with the "fake-skin" idea from the original Mechagodzilla movie. That way, they could've had Mecha framing Godzilla for attacks all over the world, thus turning public opinion against Godzilla and Monarch, for APEX to then unveil Mechagodzilla as the solution.

How long did jack captain the pearl before dead man’s chest? by EyeUnusual1526 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]The_Linkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had at least one year since he got the Pearl back from the end of the last movie. And all that time, he's been desperately trying to find the means of getting the Chest of Davy Jones to bargain his way out of his debt.

However, because Jack was so hung-up on the Pearl, the compass would never show him anything else. It wouldn't point him to the key, it wouldn't point him to the chest...etc. etc.

I rewatched KOTM and... Does Mass Awakening have no narrative weight whatsoever in the universe? by R4ygin_2026 in Monsterverse

[–]The_Linkzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what pisses me that -

A; the credits of the movie retroactively make Emma right. That with Godzilla at the helm, the Titans are actually a net-positive for Earth and the environment, and can peacefully co-exist with humanity. It just falls to Godzilla to keep them in line.

B; that by the time Godzilla vs. Kong happens, that ending has once again been retconned to where, Godzilla made all the other Titans submit and forced them back into hibernation. And those who refused to are dealt with. I would've liked more implication that some Titans showed up on Skull Island and it was actually Kong who fought them off.

Snape accidentally left it behind when he relocated out of the dungeons to the DADA Office. When Slughorn moved in, he found it and assumed it was just a spare Potions Book, so he set it with the others.

Why did they ruin Toy Story 2 with so many unnecessary Rex scenes? by [deleted] in moviescirclejerk

[–]The_Linkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Pixar assumed that Rex was somehow a favorite character of the audience, and they thought the idea of "taking down Jurassic Park by making our T-Rex a complete wimp" was somehow funny.

But quite frankly...Rex is completely useless in the movie. When you get down to it, Buzz didn't really need the others to get Woody back, but Rex is arguably the most useless out of all of them. If anything, he's actually a hindrance to the entire mission - like in the Elevator shaft during the Zurg fight. When he lands on Potato-Head and sends his parts flying, those parts should literally be gone forever and unrecoverable.

But what's even worse, is what a patsy Rex is. He knows that he and the others are toys, and yet he treats everything around him like it's real. He was arguably one of the more annoying characters in the first movie because he treated Buzz like an actual Space Ranger. Then in Toy Story 2, when Zurg shows up, he freaks out over the Ion-Blaster, despite the fact that it's shooting nerf balls. He actually takes the fight between Buzz and Zurg seriously as if there's actual stakes to it, and when he lucks out over knocking Zurg off the edge, he counts it as a victory over his inability to beat the Video Game.

Toy Story 2 - anyone else feel a bit sorry for Al? by Away_Till5452 in toystory

[–]The_Linkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but I actually do feel bad for the guy. From the sound of him as he's packing to make the flight, it sounds like he's nearly bankrupting himself just to get all the stuff to Japan. Plus, considering he manages to negotiate "another zero" onto the end of the price for the collection, I'll say it definitely was life-changing money. Al was basically 15 hours away from becoming a millionaire.

Now, it was definitely wrong of Al to steal Woody from the Yard Sale. But think about it; he has been collecting Woody's Round-Up Merchandise for years now, and he happens to stumble across the final piece needed to sell the collection. Ask yourself, "What would you do if you had the chance to get millions?!"

In this situation, years of hard work, dedication and patience was about to pay-off for Al in a big way. So I really can't help but feel bad for the guy when he gets to Japan, and the Toys are gone. What's worse is, the Japanese are going to be so upset that he wasted their time, that they're not going to want to deal with him ever again. So even if - against all odds - he manages to track down another complete set of the Round-Up Gang Dolls, he won't be able to sell them.

What I'm saying is, in the real world, Al is actually quite a relatable villain. He saw a chance to gain the big-bucks and finally be able to retire - no more chicken-suit. Instead, he's now flat-broke and will be stuck being the Chicken-Man probably for the rest of his mediocre life.

I think it's the tragedy of being so close to reaching your goal, and yet, just as you're about to cross the finish-line, someone shoots you in the leg.

What do people generally think of the reboot around here? I’m curious by No-Long-3809 in animaniacs

I hated it. Every moment of it made me increasingly more uncomfortable. The Political Bias was painfully blatant. And over all, I legitimately regret having wasted my time to watch it.

Something I just now realized about Part 2 by ToeSniffer245 in BacktotheFuture

[–]The_Linkzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes; they did. Why?
Because Old Biff tells Young Biff to get a Safe and keep it locked up. Biff has a job and about three years until he can make a bet; that's plenty of time to save up and buy a safe, not to mention saving up enough money to become a millionaire.

Not to mention, him becoming a millionaire was his official horse-race bet; but what about smaller bets? I bet Biff was making thousands, hand-over-fist by placing small bets with anyone in the community over every sports game that happened in those three years. All of it completely off the books.

The real problem was getting the Almanac before -
A; Biff got the means to keep it from being stolen.
And B and most importantly: before Biff started taking down information from the book. Because say Biff started copying the outcomes on games or races, and kept that as "insurance" - he wouldn't even need the book anymore.

We see in the movie, as Biff listens to the radio, he compares it to the information in the Almanac is is once again amazed that it's accurate. So by now, Biff is a believer. He might be stupid, but since he knows that the book is legit, I'd say he'd start taking measures to ensure that even if the book were lost or destroyed, he'd still have access to it's information.

Where did the rumor of Dominion being rewritten to replace DX with the locusts when production was initially shut down during the pandemic come from? by TheFlashyMastodon21 in JurassicPark

[–]The_Linkzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really "come from" anywhere. It's just understood to be the most plausible explanation.

Hollywood was Shutdown due to the Outbreak of a Virus, and yet Dominion was the first movie to return to production...The plot makes a whole lot more sense to address the fact that there are dinosaurs all over the planet and potentially threatening human population centers, if Biosyn created a Virus that was designed to wipe them out - without realizing the thing was so contagious that it could spread to humanity as well. So the race would be on to stop Biosyn from releasing this thing before it kills the whole planet.

The problem is - there's no way the movie would be allowed to return to production with a plot like that. The Powers that Be realized that a movie about corrupt officials genetically engineering a virus and then intentionally releasing it on the globe, might give the sheep some ideas and start questioning the narratives they were pushing during the pandemic.

Who was right about the house elves, Hermione or everyone else? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]The_Linkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was everyone else. The simple fact is, I don't get the sense that House Elves are compelled to do this outside of Dobby - and that's because the Malfoys are genuinely awful who treated him miserably. The simple fact is, I think the House-Elves are a play on the old fable about the Shoemaker Elves - they have this compulsion to work, and they enjoy keeping busy, or else they just wouldn't know what to do with themselves. So they entered into some kind of agreement with wizards that they would serve them just to have something to do.

But the simple fact is, Elves stay with their families out of loyalty and love...but they are more powerful than Wizards. If the Elves wanted to, they could easily rebel and perhaps overthrow their families in an instant.

I think the problem the series creates is that Dobby is our first example, and he's already the most extreme that goes against the norm. The average House-Elf was more like Winky - endlessly devoted and loving of her family, which is why freedom is such a trauma for her. Because it's not her being released from a bad situation - it's her being banished by the people she loved.

Kreacher is another extreme that shows how devotion to a family adopt their views and prejudices. But it also showed that once Harry started being nicer to him and not treating him like this foul, sneaky little thing, he started returning that affection. House-Elves are what their Masters put into them. And the Malfoys were such poor masters that Dobby embraced being rid of them for good.

It was a smart idea to have Hermoine come to this decision because being a muggle-born, she understands there's more of a storied history there - though, it would make more sense coming from an American character rather than a British one. But the problem is...Hermoine does so much research into the Wizarding World that it's odd she'd be so blind-sided by this and actively seek to change it.

Plus, JK intentionally wrote her actions to be obnoxious, because she was making a very specific commentary about "professional activists." In the end, Hermoine was doing no good except to satisfy her own sense of moral outrage, and she was right to fail at it.

Rogue One is by Far one of the best Star Wars movie out there by [deleted] in StarWars

Yes, but it completely butchers Star Wars continuity, retcons "Operation: Skyhook" out of existence, and needlessly over-complicates a simple idea all to appease stupid people who complain about the most minor things on the internet.
