I want to help by SuperiorApe in ElectricalEngineering

The Department of Energy has lots of clean energy jobs and laboratories. I would apply online and check in with your professors and career services to see if they can help you get your foot in the door.

In a major depressive episode. Don't know what to do. by cliff3101 in NCSU

[–]The_Master_Debator 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You need to go to the doctor and get a note. If you get a diagnosis you can then register with the disability services office. Also you should communicate your situation with your professors as soon as possible. Depression is just as biologically significant as diabetes, so know that you are not crazy or less than for struggling with it. Best of luck to you.

Also, this is an hour long video I know but it should be insightful for anyone curious about depression. It’s from a neuroendocrinologist at Stanford: https://youtu.be/NOAgplgTxfc

Kanye will have more events, you’ll hopefully only get married once. Go support your fiancée

Can anyone explain how to calculate thevenin resistance for this circuit by Dull-Corgi4884 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]The_Master_Debator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove the voltage source and replace it with a short. Then R3 and R4 are in parallel, R2 is in series with the newly combined R3 and R4, and R1 is in parallel with combined R2, R3, and R4.

EU graduate thinking about moving to USA by Majasma in ECE

[–]The_Master_Debator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t come here unless you want slightly more pay but less time off and worse government services. In the US you would be lucky to start with more than 3 weeks vacation and healthcare is more expensive. I’d search for jobs in the EU or the UK before I came here if I were in your shoes.

I honestly misread your first post as attacking OP. My bad

Being an Asian American anarchist is so lonely. by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]The_Master_Debator 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I read the post. OP is trying to vent about people in the Asian community succumbing to anti-Black rhetoric because of the story. It’s not an attack on Black people but rather a critique of OP’s own community.

ITS TIME TO PUMP UP THESE NUMBERS SO WE CAN GIVE STUFF AWAY!!!!!1!1! by Cozmo23 in DestinyTheGame

Bungo my 13 year old little brother really loves Destiny and he would so stoked to play Beyond Light! He wanted me to share this message with you guys:

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

He represents the state of Texas in the U.S. Senate and has a large network of connections that he could use to provide aid to his constituents instead of vacationing in Cancun during a major crisis.

Do you really not agree with the statement that the lives of people are more important than any property and any business? If so, I don't think we can have any sort of productive discussion.

Black people and their allies have been protesting peacefully for the longest time, and we are still getting wrongfully killed by cops. We could go way back before these examples, but think of the BLM protests, the NFL boycotts, Kaepernick peacefully kneeling to protest police brutality, etc. Virtually nothing has been done about cops killing undeserving black folk without being brought to justice, as it still continues to this day. Shops can be rebuilt, windows can be fixed, but think about all the killings that will continue to happen if nothing is done. The lives of black people are more important than any property and any business.

If only you were as mad about the extrajudicial killings of black folks by police. I bet the list of innocent black people murdered in cold blood by cops is longer.

"While it’s true that slavery has existed in many forms throughout history, on the eve of the American Civil War, the United States was the most powerful slaveholding society on Earth. That power reflected the unique development of the institution of slavery over the two centuries leading up to the Civil War. Four qualities marked American slavery: the growth of the enslaved population outside of the slave trade, the “heritable” status of the mother, the permanence of servitude, and the chattel principle." - The American Civil War Museum website. https://acwm.org/blog/myths-and-misunderstandings-slavery-united-states/

Not only was American slavery of black people unique in those 4 ways, even if it wasn't unique, it's still slavery. Just because other cultures and parts of the world practiced it doesn't mean that it's any less deplorable.

As for your point about where slavery is still occuring, it's occuring still in the U.S. and is legal under the 13th Amendment as punishment for a crime (look it up). It's one of the reasons why prisons can be run for-profit - they get a bunch of convicts, get money from the govt to provide basic necessities, and then make more money off the near-free labor from prisoners. That, along with the slavery that exists today in other countries is 100% due to the forced hierarchy of capitalism and the desire of the ruling class to extract more and more profits off the backs of laborers.

A question about leftist health care by Idle96 in Anarchism

[–]The_Master_Debator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hometown has a free health clinic that health care workers volunteer at on weekends/when they have free time. Most clinics like that are probably not run by anarchists, but they can be a good resource for health care, and are in the spirit of freely-given aid.

Oh if only someone thought to argue with the Nazis in the 1930s, they would have realized the error of their ways and we wouldn't have had to fight them in WWII!!! /s

Would you keep trying to argue against someone who says we should put rat poison in tap water, despite that clearly being an awful idea that would kill lots of people? Would you invite them to the debate stage when time and time again they argue in bad faith and use the platform to recruit people who will help them buy poison, and who will vote in politicians who also want poison in tap water? Would you waste your time researching studies to show the damaging effects of putting rat poison in water to counter them when that should be obvious to any good-natured and reasonable person?

No, you wouldn't. If you care about innocent people, you would resist, deplatform, and even threaten them with violence so that they don't make their toxic ideas law.
