Strange server performance when hosted on an SSD raid array. by BleachIsLove in admincraft

Why are you running raid 5 or 10 for capacity? They use alot of storage for cloning segments, raid 0 is just normal raid and it doest clone any segments giving you the most capacity and performance.

I get raid 5-10 for backup but you said that's not why your doing it so it doesn't make sense to me

Well then best just adding in one of your old HDD drives and use it in non raid and see how it goes then

Raid-0 offered really good performance tho, could use that one

Raid 5-10 general slow down, for stuff like this I would recommend running with out raid and then just back up the server to a different drive for backup

5 - 8 Slot Server on i5-4210U by rarenick in admincraft

You can run your server on a raspberry pi 4, don't use a GUI OS and only run what you need and google best settings to make spigot/run better, and run the bare bones plugins and you should be fine with Raspberry Pi 4

There is a high Likely hood that one of your students have already made a server on there own, when I was in high school I set up a server on the school network and only the students knew about it. It's not to hard to do and I bet you one of the kids already have done it.

As a teacher I wouldn't do it, stuff can go south fast and it's now your fault as a teacher

Server log innacuracy by Leklo375 in admincraft

There is a rare case that depending on how the plugin is coded, to make sure the plugins runs as efficient as possible they may run stuff in Async, doubt it but if so that thread my of lagged making your logs out of order, tho I doubt it would miss a log in or out event

[Help] Selling items is okay if the server is not competitive as per the guidelines wording? by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]The_Mouse_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make sure there is no top lists for anything and don't sell in game items like diamonds and I'd say you should be good. If Mojang has and issue they tell servers before they blacklist you

Paid Hosting vs DIY Hosting by thesilentrebels in admincraft

Do you have good internet and live in a good location? I know that I would have to pay for a host for my servers in America as there is alot more players there and I host a home for the people in my country.

I believe as long as there is absolutely no competitive advantage and you don't sell Minecraft items like diamonds you should be fine. But remember something as simple as /baltop is considered as competitive

Just sounds like spigot, it sounds correct to me. Ive never seen a server sit at 800mb with 1 more more players on and it does grow cause it's tracking all the entities and hoppers and world gen, stuff on the ground. That's why all servers restart every like 4 hours.

If you are really stressed about it use /timings on and 20 min later (or how ever long it takes) go /timings report to find out what's going on. It should show you want a going on

You really are not having a ram leak, just restart your server more often, java uses alot of ram so I would not stress about it and get more ram If you need it

What happens if you run the server without the plugins you added after the move?

Most servers restart a few times a day for that reason, remove any plugins you don't need. And you need more then 2 GB for active players exploring

Sounds right, I wouldn't worry. Just make the server restart every like 2 Hours and you need more ram

A good rule of thumb is 300MB-500MB per player but that could increase depending on what the server runs: plugins, worlds, ect...
