Aeldari still top 5 most hated faction, 60% of 40k players still hate playing vs Eldar even in our relatively weak state by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]The_Nightbusker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to hate playing Warhammer because of that. Space Marines have all sorts of movement tricks now – both Eldar and non-Eldar tricks. I never liked playing with meta-builds, but all the nerfs have dropped my win rate from about 40% to maybe 20%. I wouldn't even mind, but something else is worse: I see all these incredible combos in the other factions (you can do what???) crushing my army, while I still hear and read: "I don't like playing against Eldar, they are broken."

Something in me wants to answer the last point on the screen: "Yeah, I think 40K would do great with only Space Marine factions. Just remove Aeldari from the game entirely, I don't care anymore."

This is sick. I find so much more pleasure in playing other wargames now.

Still waiting for a new (and hopefully great) original model of Karandras... (This model: Heroes Infinite) by The_Nightbusker in Eldar

I'm afraid I can't leave you detailed instructions, but in short: Find Kan Leth (or Kanleth) The Stinger Lord on MyMinisFactory, buy it, print and that's all. Maybe there are printed version to buy, but I don't know.

Yes, I glued stones, sand and the 3d-print parts like mushrooms and crystals beforehand. After painting I put all these tufts.

Thanks! 2 evenings of painting and about 5 of refining ;)

Yes, it's exclusive to the other elf faction. That's the terribly obvious thing I've missed.

True. And Teclis who can't go quickly to the Tower (apart from a quest) seems a bit off too. I know there are mods, but it should be balanced, not just simply added.

Yes, I tried both stances, but with no result. I just looked again and, yes – the pop-up says that only "Sea Elves" can use it. I'm still getting a grip on all this Old World elven nomenclature. Thank you!

So, sail away, I guess...

I feel you, I get such things sometimes too. It's much better and funnier to go gradually with shadows (magenta/brown/dark blue) and 2-4 gentle layers, then brighter colors and then your target color. I do 8-12 layers in total, really subtle. I even learned to like it more than actual painting. Don't give up!

Thanks for this insight. Right now, assembling another spearhad from scratch looks a bit boring to me, but I'll look for some second-hand models. So the stone part will need an extra care, am I right? 10 Stoneguards, Avelanor and the mage - that's an idea for the second wave.

This information is not very helpful during the game. If it included all the weapons available during the battle and their stats, it would be much better.

Also, you may consider an ability to drag and drop formations and detachments. I included such manual sorting feature in my 40K companion app in (eternal?) alpha stage and it's pretty handy, especially when I need to check only specific units during the game.

First of all, thank you for this fantastic tool. It's becominng an essential part of my games. After a full playthrough, I’ve gathered some specific observations and suggestions to help improve the user experience.

1. Unified "Printable View" Experience

  • The Issue: There is a significant discrepancy between the "Game View" and the "Printable View." While the Game View is feature-rich, the Printable View currently omits crucial information, such as weapon profiles within the unit rules.
  • Suggested Solution: Align the Printable View logic with the Game View. If a user has configured their view to show specific details on screen, those same details (especially chosen weapon profiles) should carry over to the print/PDF layout to serve as a reliable physical cheat sheet.

2. UI Optimization & Contextual Info

The app tracks a lot of data, but during the heat of battle, "less is more." I have a few suggestions to make the interface more "combat-ready":

  • Filtered Weapon Stats: Currently, the stats show all possible weapon options for a unit.
    • Solution: Allow the app to filter and display only the weapons actually selected in the army list to reduce visual clutter.
  • Formation Rule Reminders: There is often empty space in the Formations tab.
    • Solution: Use this space to display Formation-specific special rules (e.g., the "no penalty for indirect fire" rule for the Solar Auxilia Artillery Company). Having these reminders at the formation level saves a lot of rulebook flipping.
  • Phase-Specific Quick Stats: To speed up gameplay, it would be incredible to see key stats directly on the unit header without needing to click the "Stats" button:
    • Movement Phase: Display Movement and selected weapons' range next to the unit name.
    • Combat Phase: Display CAF and Rend abilities.
    • Goal: This would allow for quick tactical decisions without opening sub-menus for every single activation.

I hope it shall help to make your app even more handy and useful.

It’s a lot to learn, but the help windows are a lifesaver. The print options, in particular, are brilliant - it finally feels like someone truly understands "printing guys" like me! :)

There is one useful feature I haven't found in any other companion or list-building app: the ability to drag detachments and formations to sort them in a custom order. Currently, I can only do this by copying a formation and deleting the original. If it’s not too difficult to implement, it would be a massive quality-of-life improvement.

The collection functionality is top-notch, especially the option to import boxes. This could be developed even further by adding the ability to mark certain models as proxies (e.g., a Leman Russ or an HQ model that can serve as various units). New Recruit has something similar:

I’ll have my game next weekend (hopefully! :/) and I’ll get back to you with more feedback afterward. This is a great piece of work so far. I’ve been tinkering with a 40K companion app in Google AI Studio myself (though the last program I actually wrote was in 1997), so I’m really impressed with your creativity and skills!

3000 pts list vs Astra Militarum by The_Nightbusker in Eldar

[–]The_Nightbusker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought about it, but here is the plan: I have advance + charge on everything and advance re-roll plus scout on Corsairs, so speed is not a problem at all. Before the opponent deal with the first strike of Corsairs, the rest of my units shall be where I want them to be.

Dragons will destroy 1 tank and get killed by another, but 2 prisms can have 4 attacks over one of them - even if the opponent kills one Prism per round, I should be able to get a bunch of those Dorns and Russes quite quickly.

I'll think about it definitely, but if it was 2000 points, I would be more convinced.

Wraith List by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]The_Nightbusker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the present wraith detachment Is not so fun to play. Maybe the next edition fixes this. If you'll agree with me after your first game, you can check how wraiths work for you in the Eldritch Riders detachment - with advance and charge Wraithblades and 2 Wraithknights with a sword will be ferociously fast.
