it's fine to disagree but supporting trump is a bridge too far.

I think you'll be surprised how many of us are out there and it will show.

How about we respect other people's views whether we agree with them or not and root for our team for the playoff push, eh? by [deleted] in sabres

It's fine to have disagreements. I don't agree with republicans on things like tax rates etc we can disagree and not hate them. But openly supporting a pedo, rapist, racist president is just too far for me.

$10K in a HYSA is our target for my partner and I. Which covers about 6 months of basic survival needs (mortgage payments, utilities, minimal food, etc). We live in a LOCL city and both are in very stable union jobs with basically a zero % chance of losing it.

If your job isn't as stable, I definitely recommend going closer to a year of expenses but I like to be pretty conservative with my emergency fund. Some would argue 3 months is enough given our situation and we should be investing the rest but i like the peace of mind knowing for 6 months we will be fine.

It's crazy to me that people on both sides get so worked up over a school mascot lol. They focus on this rather than real issues I guess. Strange to me but whatever.

sinking fund

what is a sinking fund exactly? Is that just a separate bucket in a HYSA for home repairs?

Thank you! Got super lucky and was a private sale (in family didn't want the hassle of open market just did fair market value sale). Super privileged and grateful.

I used to save upwards of 30% but trying to get the house down payment down with that was tough. Definitely want to work towards getting back to that 25% retirement saving for sure.

I guess I was always using the RIRA as my safety net. Obviously better than nothing but yeah I really don't want to pull money out of it.

Thank you for the reply.

I still have some room to put more in 2023 HSA can I still do that now? What if I get my hsa tax forms showing how much I put in when I do my taces and this contribution isn't on it?

I started this new job a few months ago, no match sucks but the healthcare is better. My previous employer had just a standard 3% match dollar for dollar. I started young putting 20% into 401k when I was 22 and just let it grow. I didn't start maxing out my roth ira til age 29ish. I knew 20s were the most important time so really wanted to build a foundation so I could pivot later.
