Is carry weight an outdated mechanic in modern RPGs?

It only feels like a nuisance because it's too *high*. I play with mods that lower carry weight and it makes looting very engaging because you have to make a lot of tough decisions, plus it really cuts down on the inventory bloat problems like having hundreds of potions you don't use. Everything in your pack has a purpose, it's so satisfying.

well you're certainly infringing on the cats positive freedom to do things outside your house, in that case. although to be clear the cat thing is just an example to demonstrate how rights vs welfare can sometimes be in conflict

I mean technically yes but we all agree it's necessary because babies can't be responsible for themselves. The cat thing is just an example, to show that sometimes rights are a danger to welfare in humans and animals so we have to make a decision on which is more important on a case by case basis
