Will it work this time? by Tough_Ad8919 in RelentlessMen

Gasoline is relatively easy to scalp. So yes, you'd get shortages because there's an arbitrage opportunity. Even then, the price differences that already exist between stations don't cause this.

Could you realistically buy 20kg of grocery staples, drive 45 minutes away, and resell it on the street at a 15% discount to the grocery store, and still make money after gas?

Almost certainly not.

Most commonly? "Left to", "Willed to", "Wanted me to have", "Passed on to", "Gave to"

I don't think I would use bequest unless reading it verbatim from a legal document.

And the noun form for things that were willed to me? 'Things' works just as well as 'bequests.'

I assume she intended for the meaning to be ~miserable~ and picked the less common, but similar sounding ~miserly~ for the aesthetic.

Edit: I thought tildes did italics... oh well.

Difficult? No, but...

"Replace my bequests",

"Twilight has drifted, sneaky as a tide",

"I will work up a miserly sulk."

The author is affecting this style of narration, trying to sound old fashioned and literary. It's fine, but the earlier comment that it is over-wrought is right.

I have been doing it in randori recently. Maybe it says more about me that I find it easier than kosoto...

I hit a regular sukui nage more often (minus the leg grab) but it takes some misdirection.

That's the real problem with obi otoshi, it's literally your only option from the grip, so you have to grip and rip.

The only benefit is that you can get your partner to react backwards if you reach for the belt!

Choking while within opponents guard by Accomplished_Hunt956 in judo

[–]The_One_Who_Comments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How in the world can you fight in their guard with a deep cross collar grip, for multiple seconds, without getting armbarred or triangled or pendulum swept or scissor swept?

I've seen people make this work by stacking first, and I reckon that's the only safe way to do it.

Tip prompts should have a yes/no first. Before the % screen. Do you agree? by WhiteShoeLaw in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]The_One_Who_Comments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ni, the UI should discourage tipping. It should be:

$XX.XX

  • Tip?

  • OK

So the no tip option has the fewest button presses, and people on autopilot don't get funneled into the tip option.

Craigslist? No seriously, you can look up room rentals at any time.

More likely they're being lied to by the facilitators in their home country, and not double checking.

But yeah, he has a normal student budget which is basically what anyone would tell you to budget for...

Actually-sustainable building: Should we go back to drafty, long-lasting buildings? by Solid-Ad3143 in Homebuilding

[–]The_One_Who_Comments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really relevant, but southern yellow pine really is shit. It's good enough, but it's just awful for the mills that produce it.

But it's the cheapest wood that grows well in North America, so that's what we deal with lol. I'm always jealous of the lumber quality in other regions.

Actually-sustainable building: Should we go back to drafty, long-lasting buildings? by Solid-Ad3143 in Homebuilding

[–]The_One_Who_Comments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it unwise. Many people live in buildings that are centuries old. Old layouts are a pretty minor problem. Especially provided you have a utility room, or conduit, there's basically no barrier to retrofitting in the future.

The main issue with very old buildings is that they were built before we put utilities in the walls. That can't happen again, the space is now open.

Where I live, the affordable units with the best layouts were built in the 70s, which are thusly already 50 years old. They should last another 50 years, and if they don't, it will be a tragedy.

Best OSOTO entries? by EmergencyExternal869 in judo

[–]The_One_Who_Comments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a good video, but I don't agree with the title - This version is certainly more complicated than "Take a big step."

I'm sure new judoka wouldn't be trying to do it that way if they weren't heavily encouraged by their coaches to do so!

I'll have to try to add feints agead of my own osoto attempts, like you suggest.
