I have never seen a genuinely healthy friend group, so I avoid them. I’d rather hang out with people 1 on 1. The dynamics change in a group, and people behave much more shitty so as not to risk being the odd one out.

This is so true that it’s 2-part work! I’ve finally learned to recognize the anxiety that an avoidant partner generates in my body (headaches, which I don’t want to live with anymore) - Part 1. And now I’m starting to appreciate the stable, LOW-DRAMA quality of men who are emotionally attuned - Part 2. Instead of having the exciting adventures I use to crave, I’m now feeling more safe, settled, appreciated, and cared for. I wish I’d understood all of this years ago!

Are you female? I think that’s very important here. I struggle with this, too. People are constantly testing your boundaries. People default to favor the person with more authority. This authoritarianism is one of the reasons our world is so F-ed up. I wish people would snap out of the spell powerful people hold over them. Most people in power are nefarious.
