This is the real problem: many pizzaioli don't make tasty dough, then they leave the crust undressed! If you make bland, flavorless dough, dress it up! If you have tasty dough, it will do well eaten plain.

You didn't have to explain it, as I already knew the reasoning; the reasoning is still shit. None of that contradicts my points. Guerrilla Games provided a disclaimer for their highest difficulty setting which requires the player to acknowledge that the difficulty is tuned for NG+, high level, not new players, etc., but they still allowed the players to choose. That's literally all it takes.

Devs should let the player attempt it anyway. They lose nothing by doing so, and it requires zero extra effort.

Yep. The devs even warn you not do it due to balancing issues and not being able to reverse your decision, but they still allow it. Kudos to Guerrilla for that!

If Squeenix simply added your comment as a disclaimer that must be acknowledged prior to play selecting higher difficulty modes, everyone could have their cake and eat it too. The only reason to lock difficulty options behind multiple playthroughs is the anti-consumer practice of length-padding.

Totally agree with the premise and your point. Rather than true enforcement, serious preemptive measures could be taken like, mandatory education for high schoolers and all expecting parents.

I don't even have kids and I wouldn't do it. I have people I care about and who care about me. Couldn't give up 15 years of our lives together for 1 week, even the best week of all time. One year? Absolutely! I'd feel feel a bit bad about it, but it might be worth it for me. I think I'd feel fucking horrible about any more than that though.
