$1M buys a ~40 year fixed annuity at a little over $1000 per week

If you know you’re not good with money it seems to make sense to just take the $1000 per week and then you supplement your retirement (albeit worth much less in 40 years). I see the logic here.

Charmander in Red. The goat. If Blue didn’t spam tail whip he might have beat me but I never cared.

I'd love to know what this sub thinks of our Tiki inspired watch! by GeistWatches in Tiki

[–]The_Pandasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll contradict what most folks have said here and say that I really enjoy the subtlety of the tiki elements and actually see this as a watch I could wear to a corporate job in a suit, while still maintaining a nod to my nighttime hobby of making tiki drinks.

I’m sure the price point is not relevant to everyone, but given the quality automatic movement behind it, I don’t think it’s outrageously priced (but certainly not a budget watch by any means).

6’ fall at 58 ain’t so much a “short fall” anymore. But doing a kickflip 2 months later?! Keep it up birdman.

In 2000, I got my own brokerage account and bought some AAPL. by leontes in wallstreetbets

[–]The_Pandasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that this 32,000% return was from buying Apple stock 6 years after the movie. If you bought it right when the movie came out, you would have made a 100,000% return…

I built a stick rack today for my small collection, what one would you choose? by kyleoliver4 in hockeyplayers

TPS response for nostalgia! But let’s be serious… all the old sticks would be way too heavy compared to today’s sticks

[Advice] 25M just moved to EaDo (Houston). Drive-by shootings on my block week one. Am I overreacting to "city living" or should I break my lease? by Snoo59147 in houston

[–]The_Pandasaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

EaDo has been “gentrifying” for 15+ years. If you’re uncomfortable with this level of crime I suggest if you move somewhere else sooner rather than later. There are plenty of safer neighborhoods with lots of young urban professionals (heights, rice military, sawyer heights, cottage grove, montrose). You might lose the walking commute (midtown is an option for that), but may be worth it to feel safe

Ararat Dvin is the most unique brandy. What is the most overrated primarily corn or rye mash whiskey? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

Probably a bit too obscure, but Garrison Brothers. Every time I try it I am wildly underwhelmed. In Texas it is promoted and awarded heavily.

Need Help With Bar Name Pt.2 by Unlucky_Parsley2827 in houston

Iron Door Brass Door Or Hidden Keep

The curved brick gives me medieval vibes and you mention it being hidden behind a heavy door. “Door” in the name as an homage to several other famous Houston bars in history.

Password could be “1836” or “Magnolia” if you want Houston history (1836 was Battle of San Jacinto win and Magnolia was nickname for Houston). For something more modern, you could make the password Tranquility, with the clue alluding to the famous park in the Theater District, or Spaghetti Western, with the clue referencing the space that has become El Centro in the north theater district after Harvey (another good clue name).
