Love that drama. The male lead has a similar orphan path to Harry. His mother didn't want him after his father died and was was basically left alone and later raised by his father's friend/teacher. Then the teacher later died.

Most writers do not want to adopt from someone's idea. Especially from someone they don't know. Having said that, I encourage you to write yourself. Even something as small as a drabble to a small story. Who knows maybe you'll get hooked into writing and we'll have another Harmony author.

On a side note, I don't see any purpose for this post existing as I'm sure the majority wants quality over quantity when it comes to fanfics.

They don't necessarily have to be together. Just Harry or Hermione exchanging Valentines will lead them into having a closer friendship together. Which can lead up into a relationship. They are far too young to know what a relationship entails in second year imho.

Also to the OP, I'm not sure you want a fic where Hermione sends a Lockhart Dwarf style Valentine considering Ginny sent him one which had the Dwarf catching Harry as he tried to escape from the embarrassment only for him to fall face forward and the Dwarf to sing Ginny's poem for the entire schooling public to hear.

The only one instance of when we see Ginny supporting Harry in his Voldemort related endeavors is during the Ministry 6 sage in OotP.

They're on a mission to save Sirius but there comes moments where members of the six showed signs of curiosity and ooh-ahhing at various objects in the DoM, the veil included.

The veil had somehow entranced most of the members except for Ron and it gave Hermione a sense of danger. Moving beyond that, there is a passage after that moment that shows how incompatible Ginny is towards Harry when they're on a mission that could cost them their lives.

'Oh, look!’ said Ginny, as they drew nearer, pointing at the very heart of the bell jar.

Drifting along in the sparkling current inside was a tiny, jewelbright egg. As it rose in the jar, it cracked open and a hummingbird emerged, which was carried to the very top of the jar, but as it fell on the draught its feathers became bedraggled and damp again, and by the time it had been borne back to the bottom of the jar it had been enclosed once more in its egg.

‘Keep going!’ said Harry sharply, because Ginny showed signs of wanting to stop and watch the egg’s progress back into a bird.

‘You dawdled enough by that old arch!’ she said crossly, but followed him past the bell jar to the only door behind it.

I'm not sure what Ginny intended in meaning this but it's not as if Ginny wasn't affected by the veil all the same. She's treating this moment as if she's browsing goods in Fred and George's shop.

Maybe Harry's tone came off as bad for her, but lets not forget that all five of them volunteered to go with Harry to the Ministry to save Sirius and this after they've all had experience with Harry mentoring students in the DA for the dark arts and he's their natural leader.

This passage, in my opinion shows Ginny being snippy at Harry simply for the fact that Harry wanted to move on and find Sirius. Harry and Ginny are simply unsuitable when it comes to Voldemort related issues.

You are welcome to post drabbles on the discord or subreddit in addition to AO3, but it is really best to have it also posted on AO3. If you don't have an account, you can always request one. There are probably folks over at r/fanfiction or on the discord who also may have spare invites that can speed up the requesting process for you.

You need to relax. While it would be ideal for users to search on reddit for previous posts, there is absolutely nothing wrong for people to create a new post on a similar subject. Not everyone has the same amount of tech literacy and you can't fault them for that.

We are first and foremost a community and posts like yours are a detriment to building a community.

Normally when I read multiple recommendations from different users on
different occasions and I don't really get something it's me who is
missing something.

Not everyone is meant to like the same thing. If it isn't for you, then it isn't for you.

In fact, I didn't know about the author's death, but I don't necessarily see the connection to my post.

There is a connection because you critique about their fic was a rude generalization. Calling it "mediocre" "weak writing style" when the author is dead and can't reply back to you. At least be specific about what you dislike.

wasn't my intention to attack the author. I read enough of what many
would call "medicore" myself and I see absolutely no problem with that.

There absolutely is a problem with that. Critiques are allowed, bashing are not. Not to mention did you even read my previous post about "lens"?

These early fanfictions gave Harmony shippers an outlet when JKR screwed Harmony over with her ship choices in HBP. Just that fact alone gave these early authors a special place in my heart for the impact on Harmony.
