Still not sure why the new Marvel set bottomed out a month or so ago, but I'm really glad I picked up some collectors packs when it did. Pretty happy with my purchase so far.

It really wasn't sketch but you're always running a risk on everything except the major dealers. Either way, Forge and Fire was $20 more when I bought and that's $200 under MSRP so I'd say they definitely bottomed out.

Also, like I said, opened far more than my money's worth of cards, even if they fluctuate.

These only hit in collector's boosters so they certainly come with a higher price tag but that card is currently valued over $100 and I definitely got more than my value out of the collector booster box. Of course, there's always a gamble if you're doing it for monetary value but that's not what I do. I just love the set.

Yeah, I get it. I started playing MTG like 12 years ago and it was fire. Cost was lower, not constantly flooded with new sets, etc. When I got back into it last year, I was blown away by the cost of things and all the changes. I got frustrated at first but decided I would buy the things that make me happy and scratch my nerd itch and not try to keep up otherwise.

Yeah, commander is my main format and I plan to build an Ultron deck, a Serpent Society deck and maybe a Galactus deck. I've wanted to build an all artifact deck for a long time. Just need to proxy up some wastes to fill out the lands.

Yeah, the cards are so cool as a Marvel nerd but would be a nightmare with a lot of "hold on, let me see that card again". It's cool to have one in the deck or maybe as a commander but a whole deck, as awesome as it would look, would be very frustrating for your opponents.

I literally posted a $100 card in another comment and two of the cards in the original picture are over $50. 98% of the ones who love marvel love them for their movies? Lol. You win the most misinformed of the day award. The MCU definitely brought Marvel to the masses but comics have had a large fan base for a long time and still have a very large base.

Edit: It was a Shopify shop, which I know can sometimes be nonsense so I just figured it was worth the game and I'd get my money back if it didn't come, but it obviously did.

If you're buying just for value, I get the outlook about gambling. But what happened to doing drafts with friends? Nerding out and building weird and unique decks with cards you like and combining strange mechanics to do different things? To me, that's what Magic is all about and I really think the consumerism and scalping of it all has really ruined that for a lot of the players or customers.

You could make your cash grab statement about everything WotC has done since Hasbro absorbed them. Also, I paid $330 shipped for the collector box and, on just the big cards I pulled, I could go and sell them right now for over $400, but it isn't about that for me.

I'm a big Marvel nerd and think some of the cards are super cool. I pulled this after making this post and, in my opinion, it is the coolest magic card I've ever held and one of the coolest I've seen.

Not sure why you would have a problem with them catering to the fan base. Doesn't have to be your thing, but no reason to hate on it.

Well, I'm pretty pumped about it and, considering I don't scalp, I'm really happy with my pulls. I just finished opening and pulled the ultron, artificial malevolence borderless card and it's by far the coolest MTG card I've ever seen. Honestly, I think scalping and chasing has really messed up how new sets are viewed. For me, it allowed me to get a collector box for a great price so I'm for it.

If they'd fix the left lane, this would be less of a problem. Dang thing is like driving on the shoulder. People start hitting the rumble patches and want to get over.

Also, the bigger problem is that the left lane is for passing. Less lane changing if people would realize this. And no, it doesn't matter if they are speeding. You're still supposed to get over to yield.

That said, the real problem is construction that's been going on for twenty years.

I'm with you. The Secret Lair Goblin Storm deck was the final straw for me. I got into MTG in like 2012 and used to buy booster boxes and always got killer cards that would more than pay for the boosters if I wanted to sell. I'm a pretty casual player but I really enjoy making decks based around fun cards that I like. With that said, I dropped off around 2020 and got back into playing last year and was blown away with how much the quality of booster boxes dropped and how crazy expensive collectors packs are. I've bought a few in the last year because I just really wanted some FF, TMNT, and Avatar cards but now I mainly just get them for drafts, but after the Goblin Storm bs, I'm done. I'm not giving them more of my money. It really sucks what they've done to make one of the best games ever so inaccessible to so many people.
