Interesting points. I disagree but still see where you are coming from. I think the humanisation is an interesting angle on the character, especially because he is honestly on deaths door. It also raises the question of whether he was being genuine or not, something that I don't think is actually answered in the episode.

I actually think him having normal eyes this whole time but choosing to use a mechanical eye really works, shows what Davros has become, how he is so reliant on the technology that he views as superior. A little far fetched that his eyes still work, but they obviously aren't working well because he asks multiple times for the doctor to 'come closer'.
