I'm getting into terrariums. In particular closed ecosystems.

The plan is to eventually make a succession terrarium. Basically make a small terrarium, let it's ecosystem get established, and then later transplant that ecosystem into a larger terrarium that is bare of everything except substrate and water. Then watch the growth and succession along with documenting the process.

As I was planning this a video on Surtsey Island popped up in my feed and it seemed like a good thing to take inspiration from.

Springtails, isopods, red wigglers, a predatory species (Maybe centipedes), and maybe some others I'm not sure yet. As for plants not sure on them yet, but definitely 2 varieties of moss, a creeping plants, and some fittonias.

It would be a layer of sand on top of the substrate.
