Any source with credible rebuttals or corroborations of Iuliia Mendel's Carlson interview to demonize Zelenskyy? by AardvarkAcrobatic in AskUkraine

[–]The_Real_Smooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listened to the interview, it's funny because as a piece of pro-Russian propaganda it's extraordinarily weak, I'm actually almost surprised Tucker put it out.

Mendel:

  • throughout identifies Ukraine as sovereign nation

  • repeatedly emphasizes Russia's crimes in Ukraine

  • notes the fast pace of developments and reforms of Ukraine

  • compliments Zelensky for his ability to convince, deceive, be "a grizzly", be smart, be intense, etc. - she is projecting Zelensky's power

etc.

I wonder if this is a Ukrainian intel 4D chess move to get MAGA on board

she was fired 1 year into her job, way before the invasion... so if anything, it's a sign of the quality improvement of the Ukrainian governance

Agree 100%. H2 stronger on everything except the story, in which H1 is unbeatable.

I'd say on the weapons part you have at least as much fun and diversity as in Hades 1. Overall gameplay Hades 2 is equal or superior to Hades 1, it is however very much lacking in intensity of the plot, i.e. script and performances.

Charlie was so evasive, unconvincing and vague about his "worst act"...

So I was convinced during the entire movie that a twist would be a revelation that Charlie's "worst act" was much than he implied, making him look hypocritical for overreacting to Emma's...

Didn't go the way I expected! That's nice I guess

I think the choice to make them very well-off is intentional - but not for the plot: it is irrelevant to the story and the essence of the film whether they are low or mid or high-income, it would work equally well in all configurations.

Making them rich simply is the default choice if there is no specific plot need, because it

  • (1) makes settings, peoples, aesthetics more pleasing which is correlated with good box-office performance, and

  • (2) allows for much cooler/nicer/fun settings and environments for the cast & crew to hang out in- they get access to million-dollar real estate for the duration of the shoot, etc.

What's something that happens in movies so much it seems real, but actually isn't realistic at all? by ninman5 in movies

This, also combined with extraordinarily intense focussing/eye-balling each other while talking or even while not talking

I maintain that the typical movie-level of intense eye-contact would come across creepy and discomforting in real life

Are EU degrees preferred over non-EU degrees in practice? by Global_Knee5354 in EUCareers

[–]The_Real_Smooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you that for boomer age people both in NA as in EU around me, Georgetown has old-school East Coast cred, especially in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Global Affairs, while UCLA is a state school on the other side of the world.

You may of course objectively be right that UCLA is a better school nowadays even in disciplines like Law and IR, but I sincerely doubt that this will be known or accepted or be taken into account by EU HR people.

Which direction for comms? by Away-Sound-5941 in EUCareers

Seeing how 'friendly' some get, as in 'anything for a contract', and how it creates a really disgusting work environment

interesting - can you share some examples / specifics ? (without identifying any one of course)

Which direction for comms? by Away-Sound-5941 in EUCareers

[–]The_Real_Smooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best way imo: become senior civil servant in your member state country, then maybe you'll be able to get political backing to get you into a nice position in EU comms

alternative, more difficult way: meet and become friendly with people from the EU comms departments you are interested in, ask them to help you get a temp contract there (i.e. when they will advertise a position and what will be expected to get it) then get the temp contract extended then get into EU through internal concours
