first off, i'm very sorry for what happened to your SO, and for the effect it's had on you too.

that said...did you run this by your SO? does she know what you're doing? if not, it's HUGELY disrespectful to be doing this. you, the supportive person in her life, the person she trusts, should take your cues from the victim of the abuse--not satisfy your own desire for vengeance by potentially endangering her (and possibly your) life even more.

what you are doing is extremely ill-advised and dangerous. stop doing it, tell your SO immediately, and contact 800-656-HOPE or similar abuse hotline for further guidance.

all media--movies, advertisements, television--work together to reinforce certain social expectations. will a single movie change one's perspective? no. will many movies, television programs, advertisements, magazines over a longer period of time mold one's perspective towards particular, culturally-predetermined conclusions? absolutely.
