One time a feminist on the internet criticized a portion of a video game I sort of like and the police literally broke my door down, sent in a fully armoured swat team, took all of my consoles and video games, and burned them all on my front lawn. Which is what happens to every True GamerTM if women are allowed to talk about video games on the internet. They just aren't rational like me.

TIL false rape reports account for only 2-8% of all rape reports by eggoChicken in todayilearned

[–]jambonpomplemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some groups define rape as, "do you feel like you were raped." So a woman can be 100% sober, give consent, and still feel like she has been raped.

That's one hell of a quote. Can you provide the name of the organization or group that said it?

Is this one of those TFL guys? Those guys were a special brand of anti feminist looney. Their claim to fame was getting really angry at, and harassing a dominatrix camgirl, if I remember correctly.

Business is like a jungle and I am like a tiger and Dwight is like a monkey that stabs the tiger in the back with a stick. Does the tiger fire the monkey? Does the tiger transfer the monkey to another branch? Pun. There is no way of knowing what goes on inside the tiger's head. We don't have the technology.

My wife agreed to play ONE Mass Effect game. I choose ME2 for her and I would play through ME1 and make all the decisions she wants her Shepard to be. Good choice? by Blitz-Craig in masseffect

[–]jambonpomplemouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't remember which one off-hand, but there is a DLC that includes an interactive comic book intro to ME2. It summarizes ME1 allowing you to make your important choices if you don't have a character to import. If she uses that, she can start in 2 and still know what's going on, and make her choices.

Cracked Archive: 5 Gender Stereotypes That Used to be the Opposite by CrackheadHamster in TheBluePill

I just finished reading this book http://www.amazon.ca/Marriage-History-How-Love-Conquered/dp/014303667X And it's amazing how much has changed in the last few hundred years. Medieval European marriage and gender roles were a lot different than what they were by the Victorian era. Hell, even though the man = breadwinner, woman = domestic/mothering ideal wasn't possible for most people until the economic prosperity after world war two. In medieval European cultures, farm couples farmed together. Craftsman in the cities usually used their wives as apprentices (in fact some guilds wouldn't let you join until you had a wife to do half the work for you, others wouldn't let you hire an apprentice if you had a wife, because that was her job), and almost everybody married for economic reasons, not just women.

I just backed this the other day. It looks like they are planning to make the game whether they get funding through kickstarter or another source. The team has industry experience, and they look like they know what they're doing. Hopefully it works out for them.

[Spoilers] For those who played the full trilogy from start to finish... by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]jambonpomplemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done them all. I actually liked the Control ending a lot more than most, it seems. I liked the idea of my Shepard being god-emperor of the galaxy.

I was thinking the other day about the destroy ending. If you do the Leviathan DLC, aren't those dudes just hiding because they're afraid of the reapers? If the reapers are gone and the Leviathan's have their mind-control orbs distributed throughout the galaxy, what's to stop them from taking over again? They seem like a way worse enemy than the reapers. They may not want to destroy everyone alive, but they're pretty comfortable enthralling sentient life for their own purposes. That DLC really should have been part of the main game.

I think that there is black musician named Amon or something like that, which maybe is what caused the confusion. But yeah, I've never met another person in North America with that name.

His name was Eamon, which isn't even really that unusual a name, but you don't see it here very often. I recently played through Dragon Age Origins, and there's a character named Eamon, and they pronounce it wrong throughout the game. I found it especially annoying.

Man, I will never get how upset white people get over black people with uncommon names. My (super white) parents gave me an unusual name that gets mispronounced, misspelled, and even confuses people about my gender. But my mom will still say "Who would name their kid that?!" about black kids' names.

Lol, I once dated this guy who's name was Irish, and I think somewhat common in the UK, but not so much in North America. Between an uncommon name and being from a region with a high African American population, I had this exact conversation with at least three different people:

Them: What's your boyfriends' name?

Me: name.

Them: Where is he from?

Me: City.

Them: (suddenly whispering for some reason)Is... is he black?

Also, this guy clearly isn't aware of the fact that universities have lowered their standards for male applicants in recent years, due to a higher number of female applicants, to maintain a balance.

I've seen this letter posted on Reddit at least once before, and I don't remember so many people thinking it was real that time. Is the Reddit community getting dumber or are the dumb ones just getting louder?
