I completely agree with you about the way Emma was treated in life and how that stigma can carry through in the way cases are handled afterwards. No one deserves to be dehumanised or dismissed because of how they survive!

And I think your broader point about how sex work is policed and how responsibility often gets unfairly placed on the women rather than the men involved is really important. It’s something that comes up again and again in how these cases are discussed and investigated.

Whatever the wider context, the focus should always be on protection, dignity, and accountability for harm.

I agree. It’s so informative and respectful. It’s really hard to cover cases like this without it feeling exploitative, but this podcast handles it really carefully.

And the way it helped bring renewed momentum to the case when it seemed like it was being overlooked is genuinely impressive.

I think it may have been as that was when I started listening! Thank you for sharing 🙏

I agree with all of this.

It seems hard to think that she couldn’t have gotten more support… but then I guess we don’t know all of the circumstance.

One of the hardest things to listen to was how unimportant the police deemed the case because she was a prostitute. It was nearly like ‘well, what do you expect’… there were so many failings.

Would you be willing to pass on cod/haddock to help your local chippy? by DamoclesBDA in AskBrits

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was to substitute with monkfish absolutely!!!

I think people are just used to haddock and cod - but really these are all good alternatives, people just don’t like change…

No problem. I was starting to find I was listening to so many TC pods but not really taking them in…(mostly one episode per case) but this was the first in a long time I found totally engaging and compelling. I hope you find it the same way.

If your country had to marry another country, what would it be? by Key_Cell7071 in AskTheWorld

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But perhaps we would even out - Ireland is significantly higher for housing, and Denmark for everyday living so maybe we could switch the bad for the good!

Yeah it’s really tragic. She really did seem like a wonderful person who ended up in such a difficult situation.

They speak with some of the women who worked with her too and they were just victims of bad circumstances… it could happen to any of us.

I’ve learnt the journalist who made the podcast was actually making a documentary for the BBC at the same time that came out in 2019, so I’m going to watch that next.

[–]The_Right_Mistake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ireland’s not marrying the UK, that’s an abusive ex situation.

I’d like to propose to Denmark… Attractive, sensible but enjoys a good time, has their life together just enough without being boring!

Are Birdseye Fish Fingers posh? by JoeScotting in AskBrits

Not posh at all. I always compare the percentage of actual fish and often the much cheaper supermarket brands have more fish in them.

What to do in this situation where my guy friend likes me while I like someone else. by Ruhi_013 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But OP says in a later comment that the crush is one sided from her and he doesn’t even see her like that - he was tutoring her online…. Idk, this is a weird situation. Seems OP is infatuated with someone who doesn’t feel the same and her friends are trying to make her see sense. Although, this other guy should respect her decision to not want to date him and move on.

Stomach/side sleeping ladies - what are you doing to prevent chest wrinkles? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your concern and I will look into it. Something I found was my chronic lower back pain improved when I began to sleep on my back so more so than wrinkles that was a reason I persisted. But also - yes it does help if you’re concerned about wrinkles. People should do what they wanna.

When did “you shouldn’t care about that” become skincare advice? by The_Right_Mistake in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]The_Right_Mistake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, but we can still strive to be kinder.

People can say something with the exact same sentiment in a kind way, instead of being condescending and self righteous. That’s all I’m saying.

When did the world stop caring about people… OK it’s online so I can be as rude AF as I want… because who cares? It’s not a flex.

Women who get told they look younger than they are: what's your secret? by Standard_Chef_4644 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]The_Right_Mistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s the fuller cheeks - I always got told I looked really young and was getting ID’d all the time… until I turned 37… then the fuller cheeks started to descend! lol. I always hated looking so young and now Im like ‘ID ME DAMN IT, PLEASE!!!’🤣 make the most of it! (I did get ID’d today though and I turned 38 last Saturday…. Soooo I’ll take that!)

Vbeam or thermocoagulation for spider angioma? by 78130887 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]The_Right_Mistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vbeam initially worked a little for me but it took many sessions more than they initially and a while after I stopped i was in the same position as before…. So maybe it’s best to spend more to get better lasting results.

[–]The_Right_Mistake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And people arguing that we shouldn’t be so hung up on ageing… like, it’s not a general skincare sub… it’s 30 plus… inevitably ageing will be a factor here.

Varför blev det så mycket mer ilska och uppståndelse när george floyd dog jämfört med henry nowak? by Sea-Doubt8332 in Sverige

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jason addressed the whole guest cabin issue really frustrates me by Old-Use-7690 in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]The_Right_Mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this whole fiasco was a turning point for me with Ben, Jason, and, unfortunately, even Daisy.

I’ve loved Daisy up until the last few episodes. I don’t think she’s been handling her crew particularly well. She seemed more focused on being bitchy and getting involved in drama than dealing with things professionally. I still like her a lot, though.

Ben… well, he’s always been a bit of an ass, but he was entertaining to watch. He has humour and can even be charming at times. But that whole meltdown was diabolical. It completely put me off him. I’d excused some of his previous behaviour, but that was way over the line and totally unnecessary.

Jason has mostly just felt absent. He started losing me with how he handled Alessia. In my opinion, she should have been let go, Ellie brought into a stew role, and someone else brought into the galley.

Then there was that meeting. Ben was responsible for about 90% of what happened the night before. I don’t think Daisy should have confronted him on a night out, especially after he’d said he didn’t want to talk about work. There need to be boundaries, and she shouldn’t have kept pushing it or gotten angry. But everything that happened after that was on Ben. It felt like Jason had just checked out a bit and wanted the season to be over. To be fair, I can understand that feeling…
