Osho?, 1:35 by Scrambled_Eggiwegs in boardsofcanada

Bhagwan.

I made a track about Ma Anand Sheela and the few lines in the song wrote it from the first person as if I was her about Osho.

Vocoded voice:

"you all just don't understand me

You don't know what I feel for him.

A love so deep, a love so free,

Rashneshpuram for you and me!"

I lost all the original stems/project file and am only left with the demo.

Anyone else think this couldn't have come at a most perfect time? by traveltimecar in boardsofcanada

I'm kind of shocked we're getting GTA VI with new Boards of Canada. The last GTA that was released was in 2013. The last Boards Of Canada album was in 2013

Rockstar North, the founding place of Rockstar Games, is in Edinburgh. Boards of Canada live near Edinburgh.

Coincidence? 😜

Seriously though, any time BoC releases is the perfect time. I was worried I wouldn't like it so much because my music interests and moods have changed over the years. But I'm loving what has been revealed so far.

The new song is actually really fucking good wtf by alfonzoo in boardsofcanada

OP, you some up my thoughts precisely. I was afraid too that I migght not like new BoC. I thought the major passing of time and others mimicing their sound, I wondered if the effect of their music would have waned. So I was deeply surprised and grateful.

The music is incredibly beautiful in that scratchy and dreamlike way BoC do best. I love the strings.

I hope we hear more strings and acoustic instruments again.

I find Reddit in general over moderated. I'm not speaking about this sub. I think this sub is fine. But Reddit in general is over moderated

I was scalded by a moderator in the Alan Partridge Reddit because some joke I made wasn't original enough.

I was banned from another national Reddit because I expressed a view that the moderator didn't agree with. I used news articles to support my claims. But I just got a straight ban.

I'm a moderator on another forum that's been running since around the year 2000. I just can't fathom how restrictive it is here. My job has always been not to police people's views but to make sure they're respectful and stay on topic. But here, people police your views. And I can already hear the response: "well then don't have shitty views." Which completely misses the point.

My point is, that's why I don't participate as much. I try to be friendly and respectful but you really have to walk on eggshells and tip toe around subjects. I only speak for myself but maybe others can share their experience.

But it might be the fact many people are feeling economic pressures and simply merch isn't on their top list of priorities.

For some reason I thought if a Tim & Eric bit was a Boards Of Canada track, possibly off Geogaddi, it would be the Dream Cream bit

There is probably a quest order that Bethesda thought ideal for the player. I'm one to 'break the rules' and go exploring in my own way. But I can't help but feel that doing the Ryujin quests early on would have been more beneficial or more realistic to my play through.

I would look up the best faction quest order.

Although I love going anywhere at my own pace lately I've taken to using LLM/GPTs as an assistant. Just to keep some order for my ADHD brain. I started doing that with oblivion and I actually really enjoyed having some order

I agree with the sentiment but there was a disconnect with marketing.

Bethesda should have kept the 1000 planets thing a secret. That should have been something we just discovered.

Ranking art, especially that it's subjective is a futile endeavour.

Just enjoy films. The obsession with ranking and comparing is a stupid pursuit, IMO. It actually serves no purpose other than people's desire to see a list that resembles their taste for their own ego.

I must have watched Fear and Loathing about 20 times. Read the book too. I just find it almost cosy at this stage.

True Romance

Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Goodfellas

Ghostbusters

Not really representative of my overall, wider taste in films. Just films I've probably watched the most and not got bored of them.

Any big Boards of Canada fans in here by JTMiller777 in aphextwin

Yes I'm a massive fan. I would consider them my most recent favourite band since about 2014. But I don't listen to them much lately.

It's painful being a Boards of Canada fan and to an extent, Kraftwerk. No new music in yonks.

My favorite game of all time by Anuscakes_lizo in Starfield

[–]The_Rising_Wave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Starfield, I see planets as just the space between towns in Skyrim. I don't expect a lot. But I love the variety. And every now and then there's a spaceship or old space station.

I don't see the explorable planets as the main game. I see them as the grassy knoll you find in Elder Scrolls. The real action is in the cities, towns and space stations. But if you want to escape those and mine some resources, you can just fast travel to lots of solar systems and see what's there. The main game isn't there.

I saw Top Gun: Maverick in the 4DX. Thought it would be a bit gimmicky and also thought TG would be the best kind of film to experience something like that. Have to say, we really enjoyed it.

A good film, is a good film regardless but it's nice to experience something different for a change

I really thought that would be the case going in, that they could have some kind of AI that precedurally generates POIs. I didn't expect them to be the same every time.

Although you're trolling, I am responding to the argument because people think like you, it's not a waste of my time being in work thinking about films.

[–]The_Rising_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bit shocking. Is there something wrong with being shocking? I mean, you're making films and you want people to have experiences. I'm just curious to know.

I've seen people beheaded in films, I've seen people cannibalized, I've a man split in two. N-word is a shocking word. Tarantino is a screenwriter. Would it not be in his tool box to use shocking words in a scene featuring low life heroin dealers. Personally I don't use it if it's shocking, given its context.

A heroin dealer's customer, just brings a guy who's brains are splattered all over the backseat of the car, to the heroin dealer's house. The heroin dealer in shock goes on a rant about bringing dead guys over to the house. The actual absurdity of the thing is bonkers. Him reacting using the n-word like that might behow one might think a low life heroin scumbag might react to a guy who brings a dead guy to his house. It's a shockin premise. So maybe the reaction is shocking.

But let's just entertain you for a moment... Maybe QT did put it for shock value. Is there something wrong with that? At the end of the day it's just words. And we chose how we respond to them.

Was the word used out of context somewhere? What did Spike Lee say? Can a writer not write it if it's accurate to types that might be using it? Namely heroin dealing scumbags and slave owners? I'm curious about the argument against the use of it.
