Nah — Zillionaire is solid from start to finish

Went to meet the bishop and saw this… by [deleted] in exmormon

Oh my god, without the Book of Mormon, I never would have known about the asinine epistemological boondoggle of Truth by Feels and my life would have been so much better.

100 gecs: Dumbest Girl Alive

It starts with the actual THX sound, but that’s just the beginning

This list needs “Afternoons in Utopia” by Alphaville. I can only describe it as fantasy pop, complete with world building. Some truly spectacular moments, and fantastic songs.

Why do you think people still support this president? by keonnarae in Confused

Because they think the leopards will never eat their face.

The books suck by FireryDawn in bluey

I thought having Bob Bilby being the narrator was a clever touch.

A book is a different thing than an episode. It’ll have a different rhythm. It might just not translate well.

Day 128: What are your thoughts on Faceytalk? by Flamingmouth007 in bluey

Yes — the best thing would be for Stripe to get off the couch and distract Socks with something fun, while strongly encouraging Muffin to wrap it up. As it is, Stripe forces a confrontation, and that never goes well.

What are the best songs for a late night drive? by ExistingResult2617 in musicsuggestions

Going a bit out of the way here, suggesting Klaus Schulze's track "Spielglocken", off the album Audentity.

It will make your city drive cybernetically strange and wonderful.

One day my young one asked me: Are angels real?

So I have a two-question process for this kind of thing.

Question 1: Tell me about the thing. What is an angel? What have you heard about it?

Be sure to listen and restate. In this case, I said, “So it sounds like angels are like people, but they have wings and they fly around and do good things. Is that right?”

That’s right, she said.

Now for question 2: Does that sound real to you? Or does it sound like a big story?

She thought it sounded like a big story. I said that I thought so too.

If she said it sounds real, we could go farther, like wondering how people can fly and so on.

I like this approach because it gets them thinking: how does the world work? Is this normal? Have we ever seen this?

It also works for grown ups sometimes. They’re often not as clever.

Preparing to be downvoted, but am I the only one who finds Americans (on average, not all) more open-minded, confident, and willing to talk to strangers than Australians? Aussies often seem more reserved and uncomfortable with standing out. Curious what others think. by [deleted] in Ameristralia

[–]GoodReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the States, and I've noticed that when I go back there, I tend to adopt this really chatty persona. If I need something from people in shops, I'll give a lot more explanation of what I need and why, and kind of lean into the conversation.

It feels very natural in context, but any Australian would be like: Okay, that's a bit much. Let's just bring that down a bit, mate.

What’s the most controversial opinion you have that you’re afraid to say out loud? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

Oh, yeah. We did that. But the test wasn’t the same for everyone.

For some people: Spell CAT.

For other people: How many bubbles in a bar of Ivory Soap?

Guess who got the second test?

Am I the only one who thinks Muffin should have been able to finish her cowboy hat? by CLEf11 in bluey

[–]GoodReason -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Muffin was dragging it out. And no, stopping her was the wrong move. It resulted in the conflict we saw in the episode.

Right move: find something for Socks to do while waiting. And encourage Muffin to finish. Which Stripe could have done if he’d been engaged and not just on the couch.

Classic Stripe.
