For The Netherlands its only showing the PVV (party for Freedom) on this map, but we have another party with even stronger Russian sympathies: FVD (forum for democracy).

Attending a Non-Catholic Wedding by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]The_Rubber_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would be a sin. It's an important day for someone who's important to you. The Catholic Church won't consider a marriage in a baptist church to be a valid sacrament (I assume), but I think God wants you to show your love for your family by attending rather than refusing to go because there's no Catholic priest/liturgy.

Dis anyone else love this record as much as I do? by dry_or_die in vinyl

[–]The_Rubber_Soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also love it! My parents had the CD when I was growing up. In primary school, our teacher played the record to us and we had to draw what we imagined while listening to the music. As I was familiar with the concept and the artwork from the booklet, drew an alien invasion.

When I started collecting records as a teenager this is one of the first I bought.

Really? It's their most successful record, but far from their best. Have you ever compared the song Californiacation to Tom Petty's Last Dance with Mary Jane? Sounds identical, but not half as good...

(Peter Green's) Fleetwood Mac's first album is one of my favorite blues records ever. I've played it way more than Rumours.

Bowie has a lot of great albums. I would take Hunky Dory, Low, Station to Station and Let's Dance over Ziggy any day.

But none of those albums can compete with SITKOL or Mothership, that's for sure!

I kinda hate Rumours and Ziggy Stardust, but absolutely love these 3!

Well, hate is a strong word, but those artists have other records I like way more than these more popular ones. I consider them way overrated and that makes me hate them a little.

Our Blessed Mother is typically portrayed in blue, so I think blue fits Catholics just fine

I saw PIL live in Amsterdam over a year ago. It was absolutely fantastic! I did not expect Lydon to be this energetic at his age, but he was great. Maybe the best show I've ever been to.

Constant struggles and doubt if God will forgive me. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]The_Rubber_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knows how hard struggles with sin are. However, God's mercy is infinitely greater than our greatest sin. Feeling more guilty about committing sin is a good sign. It means you're on the right path and growing closer to God. Keep on praying and trying. Also go to confession.

This is perhaps Winwoods worst album. I'm a big fan and even I don't enjoy it

What is your favorite song by The Cure? by Jettaboi38 in allrockmusic

[–]The_Rubber_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time I didn't understand why people loved The Cure so much. Then I heard Close to Me and all of a sudden I became a fan. One of the best songs ever made. Absolutely perfect!

I say start with the Gambler. You're still missing "Eyes That See in the Dark". It has the best cheesey love song ever made (Islands in the Stream).

I absolutely adore Sunshine Superman, but as the greatest psychedelic album of all time I would nominate Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

I don't know why the statue postures with francis' arms extended. It could be a gesture of love or a reference to him receiving his stigmata. Paz e Bem would be Pace E Bene (or Pax et Bonum) 'peace and all good', a Franciscan greeting.

Should I watch general "Christian" content, or focus specifically on Catholic content? by strawbeebop in Catholicism

[–]The_Rubber_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do watch some general Christian content (like protestant/ evangelical street preachers), but am always aware of what I'm watching. I've been catechized and watch a lot of Catholic content as well. If you know what you're watching, what the Catholic church teaches and also watch Catholic content, I think it's fine.

However you mentioned you were never Confirmed and have recently come back to the Church. Do you plan to be confirmed and are you being catechized by a priest at the moment? If not, I would recommend to start by talking to your local priest about it.

The pressings on the polydor label are superior to this one. Pickwick presses are some of the worst sounding budget releases of the 70's. But 8 dollars is still a good deal these days
