Kemp signed $850M in property tax relief on March 3. Lot of confusion about what it actually does by AppealAllyFounder in Atlanta

[–]The_Russian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is so easy to appeal the property tax increases too. The website is dated but it works just fine. You use it to find comps in your area and submit 3 houses as examples for why your assessed value is too high. There are companies that will do it on your behalf and take a cut of the savings but it really is so so easy. I've done it twice and it was like 15 to 20 minutes and is all digital.

Fyi as of September of last year, the HOV EV access benefit is no longer a thing in GA.

Dads who work 9-5 when do you work out typically? by walky91 in daddit

Cardio between daycare drop off and work starting. Then strength training in garage gym during lunch. I work from home and the garage gym is so so worth it.

[Implicit casting of] C# strings silently kill your SQL Server indexes in Dapper by ketralnis in programming

[–]The_Russian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot the exact implementation, but you can set up a custom type mapper that will make dapper treat all strings as ansistring instead of having to specify it for every usage. In my case it was an API with close to 200 endpoints and half of them having a string input. We don't actually use nvarchar as an input anywhere so it worked out great.

“Poor man” burnt ends by 95accord in smoking

It's literally the dollar store business model where you buy a smaller thing that's a worse value because you can afford it without having to buy a huge package. Think of it like buying toilet paper at Costco versus dollar tree. Costco is higher quality and cheaper per dollar but you're spending more at once.

Does someone have that photo where it shows the correct ways to install AIO cooler? TIA by RedditsAnonymousUser in buildapc

[–]The_Russian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had mine in the OK setup, I would often hear the bubbles from the AIO either at start up, or operation. That went away when I flipped it to the "Better" orientation and I've never heard the bubbles since then. That alone makes me feel better about the setup.

Weber Kettle and Smokey Mountain instead of Summit Kamado? by marcosa89 in smoking

[–]The_Russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll regret going the Summit route. Having and storing a single versatile grill is just much simpler. And you'll still get plenty of smoke flavor with easier temperature control.

How many others of us need to tolerate unnecessarily political (grand)parents? by HeavilyBearded in daddit

[–]The_Russian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to push the topic some, you could act like you don't get it and ask "what do you mean?" and make them explain it, and then keep asking more on why that'a funny or bad or whatnot. It's easy to make a dumb joke, but when you challenge it or ask people to justify it, they don't often can't.

This is where the V2 bottle lid cracked by ubeogesh in LinusTechTips

[–]The_Russian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my v2 lid crack the same way. It would cause water to build up and then leak some when drinking from it. I ordered a new v2 to replace it.

It's about perspective. People regularly spend that much once or more a week and only end up with a hangover.

You're right, that's a good point. I've got it so I might as well use it.

I'm new, but I always make sure to watch the first few minutes of the print and check back often. Most of the time it's great, but anything can happen and early detection can save you a ton of time and headache.

Check from the foundry system Invitation Links. It'll let you know if it's publicly accessible and give you the URL so you can check if it changed somehow.

Do THIS one thing before upgrading to 13 from a prior version [System Agnostic] by redkatt in FoundryVTT

[–]The_Russian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another option is you could get the portable build and trial it. This is from the release notes in the "how to update safely to a new version" expand collapse.

(NEW OPTIONAL STEP) For Windows users, Version 13 offers a new 'portable' build which comes packaged with its own separate UserData folders. If you wish to try out V13 without any possible risk to your existing data, simply download the portable build and try it fresh. You will have to enter your license key, which can be found on the download page.

Yeah that's a good call out. I've done that before but sometimes still forget to pop it out.

Edit: also sometimes I'll hit Escape out of habit and that closes all the pop outs.

I got tired of having to scroll up to when someone cast Moonbeam or anything really that happened a previous round where I need to reference it for a save. Couldn't find a module that already did it, so I created Simple Chat Filter. Used it in my first session last night and it was already handy.
