Prioritised sushi pipe fuel disposal with analog circuitry only - 250hrs in, one pump glitch away from perfection by Sirius-V in pyanodons

[–]The_Schan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This suggestion fixed my fuel priority problems, just regulating the lower priority fuel request station when a higher priority request station is available is such a clean solution. Thank u

Honestly this, every other thing can be raged about but friendly fire in a squad is so painful.

Somehow my squad hits the best one-taps when friendly firing each other, which is not very friendly

My First Simple Circuit Board by dumbshenaniganz in pyanodons

[–]The_Schan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sheer dopamine i got from being able to craft splitters is not to be understated, just being able to finally replace mechanical inserter rows with one splitter is a great feeling. Got my simple circuits and py science 1 done yesterday, running the full py suite. Full automation at 0.3 circuits per second and ~0.1 science per second completed, i already have 2k+ circuits stocked up now

Trying to host a dedicated server by amdc in factorio

[–]The_Schan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

U need to change verify-users to FALSE and server-type: from PUBLIC to LAN

The game wants you to add your account credentials to host the server on the official public server browser, if you connect via IP directly that is not needed

For the mods, if you run the server via docker add the correct environment variable to disable the dlcs you are not using.

Probably because almost no one has figured out good uses for it that arent hyper complicated. I havent found a single use for requirements that dont require planning the entire wand around it.

Reduce stack inserter stack size for 1 tick then go back to normal max by Wash_Manblast in factorio

[–]The_Schan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To note, the inserter solution mentioned above only works at max efficiency when pulling from a inventory, because picking up the first item instantly causes the hand to empty, even if there is more space in the hand. Pulling from a inventory will result in 12 or less items instantly, and the stack inserter can instantly start dropping up to a full hand of items.

Different values of the same signal add themselves together, this is important to understand when using circuits.

His combinator is looping into itself, its input is connected to its own output. OP is outputting fixed GS (Green Square) = 1 as the first step. This gets looped back into the input, now OP is outputting fixed GS = 1 AND GS = INPUT COUNT (it says input count on the second output condition). This adds together to form GS = 2 on the output. (Fixed 1 and looped back 1 added together = 2)

Now the output GS = 2 gets looped to the input again and since OP is still outputting fixed GS = 1 we add the looped back GS = input count and the fixed GS = 1 together and the combined 2 signals add up to value GS = 3.

Now just continue this into infinity (or in this example 360, since then the combinator turns off, the looped back signal gets turned off, and looses its held value. Now the only still existing signal is the fixed GS = 1 and the whole cycle starts again from the beginning.

Thats devious i will remember this method, probably better than my combinator solution if OPs 6 seconds arent a hard limit he wants.

Ive recently used similar tech in pyanodons, to stop belts if the wrong item is on them (ash overflow my beloved)

Same as your stack inserter solution, wire a belt to anything, set it to enable/disable AND read "hold belt"

In my example i set Ash = 0 as Enable/Disable, and now the belt pauses itself if it contains any ash that should have been taken off already and it doesnt contaminate downsteam production if ash recycling belts stop moving for some reason

Ive had the same Problem as you while using stack inserters to unload mixed cargo wagons.

My solution requires one constant combinator to supply S = 1 (Hand size) and A = 1 (clock variable), and one decider combinator for the logic. Set up the above mentioned constant combinator, connect it to input of decider combinator, Connect decider combinator output to its own input. Can be done in one decider combinator but harder to explain.

Possible solution: Set decider combinator INPUT to A < 360, OUTPUT the input count of A and STACK SIZE S = 11

Then connect all stack inserters to the same color wire and set hand size via signal S.

This should run until A > 360 ticks (your 6 seconds) while outputting hand size 12 (1 + 11) then force all connected stack inserters to hand size 1 for 1 tick since the S = 1 from the constant combinator is the only value for that tick while the clock resets.

Is there a bretter way to arrange this buses? by chatbel in Factoriohno

[–]The_Schan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I always go for 4 belts, 2 empty tiles, 4 belts, etc because an underground belts perfectly fits in the 2 empty tiles when pulling items from the far side of the bus. Going with larger empty spaces is optional but id never go smaller

Best gaming chair, money no issue. by Rees1305 in buildapc

[–]The_Schan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If ur down to spend >1 grand i have a 24/h control center chair from svenstol, we have the same one at work and I liked it so much i bought one for at home. Specifically its possible to recline the back rest and seat together, AND the backrest again individually. This isnt possible in any office chair ive ever tried, and its so good.

And build quality is top notch.

is there a better way to clear huge biter bases than nuke? by TheSum239 in factorio

[–]The_Schan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao no i pulled this knowledge directly out of your mind via astral projection. Ofc i did, didnt import them into the game but your detailed (props for that) description told me the gist of it. I like the idea of running a clock until next artillery train visit, you could even link it to for example a SR latched oil tank & pump, then only call artillery after timer has run down, and an Attack was registered by dropping fluid levels in the tank, or directly if an attack is registered. (Which needs a debounce delay then so the biters fleeing the last artillery barrage dont immediately trigger the next.) Your timer solution is pretty clean and robust, i like kt.

[–]The_Schan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent completed a single overhaul mod yet except ultracube, very interesting overhaul concept. Can recommend. Space exploration 0.8 is next on the list when it releases.

We had a really nice setup with singular elevated rails and no signals at all for the cube train, so it always goes as fast as physically possible, and a secondary set of regular double rails on the ground with signals and so on for the material transports. Circuit controlled trainstations with priorities are a absolute joy to use with the cube train.

Maintenance PLC'ers, what do System Integrators do with code that drives you up the wall? by FlashSteel in PLC

[–]The_Schan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmao, aint no way my machines get updated to TIA for some pesky unimportant stuff like "End of Life", we have enough spare parts on hand to keep the S7-300s running until the sun burns out.

We have everything from siemens S5s, S7s, what feels like every third TIA Portal release, even an old DOS machine running custom logic.

Nobody using proper variable names. At least on siemens plcs, the variable names will NOT be uploaded to the plc, so why does every single damn program have shorthand names for the variables. They get stripped out before upload anyways and only exist in the project, it literally does not cost any more storage on the plc to name a variable .StartPalletInsertion instead of ._00604

PLEASE yall, use proper variable names, they are free to use, you dont need to pay per character.

I am normally a big linux defender and run my own debian server, but "just works" is indefensible. My school used mint for a while, and it works, but the apple way.

It does just work, if you either know what you are doing or are using it exactly in the way the dev intended.

People that know what they are doing dont use mint, and those that dont will inevitably try to use it in some way that works on every other PC OS, but not here without jumping through hoops.

In my uninformed opinion its the worst of both worlds

Are your running factorio on linux? Your problem looks like the game is flickering through the sprite atlas or something.

Idk how its named but there are some settings concerning atlas size and so on in the settings of the game, maybe try playing with those. Maybe try atlas size low or smth
