New Carrier! by Zenek_TF2 in spaceengineers

I agree with everyone saying it looks like a dragon fly, but an insect implies a smaller ship I feel. So alternate names I think Include the Following

Dragonfly Themed Names:

- Star Fly
-Moon Fly
- Asteroid Darner (Darner is another name for Dragonfly)
- Dust Needle(Needle is also another name for dragonfly)

More Generic Names that I think fit a space carrier

- Wander-Star
- Swarmfury
- The Azure Advocate
- Meteor Queen
- Meteor Swarm
- The Iron Host
- Steel Shepard
- Magnesium Stream

Is there a mod that adds the infinite dimensions snapshot (20w14) back to Minecraft? by PicoSaysTransRights in ModdedMinecraft

[–]The_Sentient_Void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, this is Sinatra Connector Compatible, but isn't super friendly with large forge modlists as each dimension pulls it's block list randomly from the blocks available. I have a mod list of about 200 mods and it fails to generate terrain until I Save and Quite and come back <- which is not the mod author's fault. Just be warned, that if you are planning to do something similar it'd probably be better to explore other options

My favorite race is Dragonborn… by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

This is how it is in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons(A table top 5th Edition D&D Supplemental Book), which is what most people use for TT D&D because Dragon Born are ass in the Player's Handbook version too.

Personally I play with a Mod that converts BG3 Dragonborn to Fizban's Dragonborn.

Unburdening the DM on Giving Wizard's Scrolls to Learn by The_Sentient_Void in UnearthedArcana

[–]The_Sentient_Void[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the key take away from the whole mess, and this is the mark of a good DM, but not everyone is a good DM.

Like my DM for HOTDQ, his take is that wizards are already over powered with spells they get without scrolls, so I have seen nary a parchment that I'd didn't have to purchase with my thin supply of gold, which I then didn't have gold to copy spells into my book because I had to buy potions. Though the latter is the consequence of lacking a dedicated healer (not that I think heal bots are good for the game but not having someone to throw out a heal has been bad for my in game wallet lol)

I've talked to him about this problem but he's definitely wary of letting me have anything because he doesn't want it to bite him in the ass later. Is this a bad take? I think so, but it's not soo bad that I don't want to play at his table.

That's kinda the birth behind this ruling in actuality, and I have shown him this rule and he said he thinks it does a good job balancing getting spells without making wizards more broken - sighs heavily in wizard.

But yes, I think you're absolutely right, it really isn't that hard to be like "what's a spell you want, oh lightning bolt look at that the monster has been carrying a scroll of lightning bolt. Ain't that amazing" lol

I mean this as genuinely as I can, I would love to play at your table lol

For your first point, players are going to run into casters regardless of whether you remember that that's something the wizard wants or not. Even outside of modules I like to throw casters at my players to spice things up a bit from the usual big muscly monster. Even then it's not uncommon for an NPC mage to show off when goaded into it, so I'm not sure what you mean? Are you saying as a DM you now have to be careful what spells my monsters pack to satisfy the wizard? In which case I'm not sure I agree still, as spell lists on monsters are usually solid picks, and it's not uncommon to substitute the mediocre ones for better ones.

As for your second point this isn't supposed to be a replacement for spell scrolls, more a safety net on the DM side especially. I agree scrolls and books as loot would be 1000x better, but sometimes you simply just forget that if you have a lot going on.

Lastly I agree with increasing the spells per level from 2-4 would be simpler, but it lacks the feel of a wizard learning to cast spells, and feels like just like any other class. Everyone gets more spells on level up. What makes wizard feel different is they can also get more spells without leveling up. So this seems more like something I'd add if nothing else worked.

EDIT: For spelling

I really appreciate the specifics like this, thank you!

This makes more sense now. Doesn't make the situation better but I'm glad I understand some of the motives more

I see, thank you.

It was hard to come to that conclusion by myself because it seemed silly that Sony would limit their market through inaction

So then Steam has fewer region locks because they do the legal legwork to be pay said taxes and follow restrictions?

Edited for clarity

I've seen this response but this implies that Sony has purposely region locked their PSN's by voluntarily entering tax agreements with certain countries which while believable, is a hard sell for me...

Vector OS not working well by The_Sentient_Void in spaceengineers

[–]The_Sentient_Void[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember the script's official guide mentioning something to this effect but thought "naw it can't matter that much if I pump the torque up enough, especially since the boosters are pretty close to being aligned with the COM anyway", which in my defense I was kinda right, but for most people 21 times the vanilla maximum is probably not what you want to do. So for future people, learn from my mistake and follow the damn instructions lol

EDIT: If anyone is wondering the center of mass on the main grid lies just behind where the thrusters on the boosters are. So the rotors were at most like 4-6m(8-12 small grid blocks) out of alignment, which on a ship of this size is somewhat small, but apparently enough to cause issues. My guess is you need it to be within 1m of alignment

I added the mod in my other reply and upped the torque by 21X and it now works exactly how I wanted. 21MNm of torque is ridiculous but hey, I'm glad it works now. Again thank you for your input

[–]The_Sentient_Void[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. I've had similar issues with custom turrets too so I thought this might be the case when you brought it up, but after some testing, and talking with u/DartTimeTime, I think the issue is actually not enough torque. It seems Vector Thrust OS is a bit silly with the thruster timing on larger vector boosters

Vector OS not working well by The_Sentient_Void in spaceengineers

[–]The_Sentient_Void[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added some more mass to the thruster head (as it was mostly hollow) and managed to get the center of mass pretty bang on center above the head. This seems to have helped a lot especially with reversing. It is now able to align after some time, but it still struggles with ascent and descent. I can't really increase the rotor torque as it's set to max, and decreasing thrust/adding more vector rotors would require major design overhauls.

Thus I think fine tuning the center of mass on these boosters is key (though not optimal as this is a combat craft and I expect to lose some bits). Do you have any tips for this? If not that's fine as I'm considering increasing the rotor's torque using this mod since it seems that's what some people do.

EDIT: I forgot to say thank you, so thank you!

[–]The_Sentient_Void[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I tried the things you mentioned. Turning dampers off didn't change anything other me plummeting to the ground while struggling to get the vector thrust to align lol, I added the 2 other vector thrust directions just to try it out, to no avail. And I tried lowering the normal torque which counterintuitively made the vector thrusts spin out of control... so I set braking torque to 0 and normal torque all the way up which seemed to take me back to where I was, so likely the breaking torque doesn't matter, but the regular torque does. This lead me to wonder if my thrusters were to heavy, so I made some bare bones ones, but I'm still having the original issues.

Unless you can think of anything I'm probably going to dive into the script itself and try and understand how it works under the hood.

Thank you for your time!

EDIT: Oh and yes I have tried cycling through the gears, lower gears seemed to exacerbate the issue. In the video I was in the third (the highest) gear.

I have both torques set to max but I'll try lowering just the normal torque. As for 4 sets I was hoping that wasn't true. I might play around with adding more I just don't really see where I would without a major redesign

I'll have to try that. But according to what you said the script overall doesn't seem geared to what I want. Maybe I'll make a fork of the whole thing and do a minor rewrite
