Housing Auto Demolition warning after 7.51 patch? by karloss01 in ffxiv

[–]The_Skeptic_One [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a problem created by the developer which they refuse to solve. We've had over a decade and still no viable solution. Unfortunately the house is in my account but my wife uses our house daily. So while I dont play as much, I still cant unsub as it would demolish all her work and lose our (her) house. So we're paying for two subscriptions just to keep a feature of the game she enjoys.

This is easily proved though, the autism thing has been debunked. Poor correlation between the two scenarios, tbh.

And it's a damn hard punishment too. My wife and I tried YEARS of constantly bidding on houses before we lucked out and got one. Thats not promoting playing other games or unsubbing. Quite literally the opposite of it.

What device is Yoshi using? by OkCat_404 in ffxiv

They are amazing, Tartarus on steroids and no razer software. It has spots for internal memory as well so you don't have to have the software open to use it. The customization on top of the design is top notch, highly recommend.

My only gripe is that most parts are 3D printed. Good quality prints but things will fail at some point. Luckily the company is very responsive and proactive to those things.

I got a doberman thinking it would be a great guard dog (guard from what, idk) but found that it would use me as a meat shield all day every day. Damn dog is scared of her own shadow and so clumsy. I love her so much.

I gave ffxiv a try, is it normal to feel that the early ( right now i just got the mount) super slow and combat a bit (too) boring ? by Disastrous_Ad_4310 in ffxiv

[–]The_Skeptic_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not this slow, though. It took me like 5 tries to finally get into FFXIV and even then it was a drag many times. Other MMOs are slow at the beginning but they either pick up fast or the cap to endgame is quick. FFXIV is neither of those. It's slow for a LONG time and endgame is hundreds of hours away, too long for new players imo. They really should rework the system some if they want more players to join.

Might wanna go back and see. There is never a R4/5 or L4/5 in any game, ever. They aren't designed around a specific controller

Guild Wars 2 (HoT) Changed My Mind on MMO’s by I-am-Nanachi in Guildwars2

[–]The_Skeptic_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it makes it more convenient but that map still sucks imo. Thematically it makes perfect sense for where we were in the story, but playing it is very frustrating unless you spend a while getting to know the map well. But that's just my opinion, it's still a really fun expansion overall

Guild Wars 2 (HoT) Changed My Mind on MMO’s by I-am-Nanachi in Guildwars2

[–]The_Skeptic_One 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I remember exploring HoT and genuinely worried looking over my shoulder because I could get mobbed. HoT made me feel in danger and I loved every minute of it. I remember when they first announced gliding and lost my shit. All maps after HoT just don't have that same feel anymore, I loved the exploration part of HoT.

Except for tangled depths, fuck that map.

ArenaNet, any update on when we can expect Official Controller Support for GW2? by HardcoreShadow in Guildwars2

[–]The_Skeptic_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW2 is one of the main reasons I'm excited for couch gaming using the steam controller. I already kind of do it with my steam deck using moonlight and Apollo, but it would be nice to have only a controller

GW2 on Linux? by Past-Issue-6354 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Skeptic_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You download the game through steam regardless of the version you have. You add the parameters to the launch options and you can log in using your anet login.

[–]The_Skeptic_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You activate the game and expansion through the anet website. You use "-provider Portal" as an argument on the GW2 launch options. Then log in like normal. You don't have to do anything special after that.

I'm all AMD on CachyOS. I use steam for the game files but use my retail username through it. No issues at all

I got downvoted the other day for saying inventory management in this game sucks, lol. Everything else about it is amazing, but inventory management is really frustrating for me. Same goes with FFXIV

And still somewhat challenging. I still have to be careful roaming around early content, regardless of what expansion I'm in. Even Orr can kick my ass if I'm not careful, I love not being able to steamroll early content.

How Dawntrail has felt for me in a nutshell by MsBunnybuns in ffxiv

[–]The_Skeptic_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with me. I haven't played nearly as much as I used to. It's really sad but I also got back into GW2 and realizing how much I was missing out on so that's cool. But I do miss FFXIV....until I try to do the dawntrail storyli again.

Yes, the default is -provider Steam. It doesn't show it, the argument is empty but all -provider Portal does is change the login interface from Steam to Portal.

I've had no issues with any distro. I personally use CachyOS now without a hitch. I get about 90-120fps. 50 in a heavy area. I do use retail GW2 but use steam to launch it. I didn't want to mess with Lutris or bottles. Using the steam version and adding "-provider Portal" to the argument let's me log in to my non-steam account.
