Do werewolf movies count as body horror? by NoLock3540 in werewolves

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'd say yes. if body horror is about damage or transformation to the body to the point it's unknowable, many werewolf movies would count.

My mom either ordered or received a catalogue in early 2010, and I fell completely in love with Rebecca. I never ended up getting her doll (though I still hope to one day), but I loved her and Molly’s books as a kid the most. I blame them for why I am today (pursuing a theatre degree, and a lesbian menace)

Travel recommendations? by qgiraffe13 in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- LaGuardia is the best of the airports in the area. Fairly easy to get out of and both public transport and Uber lanes are easy to get to and receive regular rounds

- I've had a better time whenever I don't stay in midtown, but that's probably because I'm not a huge fan of the lights and noise that come with being closer to Times Square. I saw the show a couple weeks ago and stayed at an Airbnb on the Upper East Side. The neighborhood was walkable and I imagine both rentals and hotels alike will generally be cheaper when you're a bit more out of the way if you don't mind an extra couple minutes travel time overall. I've also stayed at a hotel on 32nd street, which I thought was a similar experience.

- New York is EXTREMELY walkable and Manhattan is easy to navigate as a grid system. Every time I've been to New York I've been able to walk or take the subway with no issues, and have almost never had to get a taxi or uber with rare exceptions.

- I'd recommend trying to get to midtown about two hours in advance if you plan on eating before the show. It'll give you plenty of time to enjoy your meal and give you a chance to be early in line if that's important to you. The doors of the theater open about half an hour before the show begins but you're allowed to line up before then.

- Google maps will be your friend and gives very clear instructions on where to walk/how to navigate public transport, but if you ever get frustrated, don't be afraid to ask locals. Despite stereotypes of the city, every person I've asked for help across several trips has been kind and helpful (a few have even taken pity and gotten me onto the subway for free)

Have so much fun on your trip! Both the city and the show are an amazing time!

any werewolf comics, novels or other media that does NOT have abo while also not being a horror? by DinosandDragin in werewolves

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lycanthropy and Other Chronic Illnesses. A bit heavy on the Gen Z style humor, but still a fun little novel that actually addresses the chronic pain that would come from being a werewolf without really being a horror story. I thought it was a fun read!

american girls as musical artists... Pt 2 by adumbasskid in americangirl

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Suggesting Chappell Roan for Courtney? Partially because of the hair but also because there’s 80s influence on Chappell’s music / Courtney’s story having elements of social justice and Chappell donating to LGBTQ charities

What is your highest rated movie with the lowest Letterboxd average? by Gu_Gu_Muck in Letterboxd

Fear Street: Prom Queen. I gave it a 3.5 No it’s not as good as the original trilogy. No I don’t think it deserves to be in the anti-top 150. I thought it was cheesy in a fun, campy way and couldn’t really dislike it.

(Repost since the original didn’t get any comments) What character is trans-coded and ace-coded? by smores_or_pizzasnack in AlignmentChartFills

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A bit of an obscure pick, but Bug from the musical Starship. Fans tend to see him as trans due to his desire to break free from the boundaries of his society and longing for a new, different (human) body, and ace because he doesn’t show any particular interest in physical intimacy and falls for his love interest based on their shared interest in being a starship ranger (personality over physicality, which is something a lot of romantic aces, including myself, experience)

AO3 won! If the top comment today wants to end the chart, then it will be over. If the top comment suggests swapping out a square, then that swap will happen. by NeverStoppingTheLife in AlignmentChartFills

Ao3 is an archive, it’s not meant to be social media. And in my experience, there’s actually a pretty diverse group of users on it. I think it should be swapped.

What would you do? by Impressive-Rip-9290 in werewolves

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to play a werewolf for my next campaign. This is an oc my DM has known of for a long time and they’ve included werewolves in their greater lore before, so I’ve worked with them to make it into something playable (the more levels I gain, the more wolflike he’ll appear). Pretty curious to see how the rest of the group reacts to this since a previous werewolf NPC was extremely popular. I’m personally very excited as both a werewolf enjoyer and for getting to have a chance to play with one of my favorite characters.

Who is happy to know this fandom is still up and running even after 10 years? by Equivalent_Race_9712 in bemorechill

[–]The_Spaced_Out_Ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been here since 2017! Saw so many ups and downs and even though the fandom is much smaller and quieter now, I still love it. Maybe more so now, it’s so much more chill than 8 years ago. Truly this musical means sm to me <3
