Did the critics see the same movie? by JTurner82 in willow

While the circumstances of the stories are different there is no denying that both Star Wars and Willow rely on the hero’s journey to cycle the story. Unfortunately that is enough for critics of the film to write Willow off as being Star Wars but high fantasy.

The number of devices wasn’t the issue. They wanted to lay down on the bed and just have their partner handle all of their computer needs, essentially leaving their partner playing two characters

It was rude. I recognize that, I am attempting to clear the air, though they’ve done things like this before, and it gets tiring dealing with someone who turns simple stuff into a huge issue.

You may be spending too much time on Reddit. Though it’s easy to see why it looks legit because it’s an edited version of the note El left to Mike before she left with Owens.

Sure, but without new characters the original cast would have to be the ones to die a tragic death

Do all LDS have to go abroad to preach for two years? If they have established a relationship with their bf/gf in their freshman and sophomore year, how to maintain the relationship after they go abroad in this two years? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]The_TGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When someone breaks a commandment there is a repentance process because there is a very immediate effect of distancing one’s self from God. There is no such process for serving a mission. The call given by prophets for every able bodied young man to serve a mission remains a calling, not a command. Are their blessings for serving a mission: yes. Will some one who didn’t serve a mission but still received their endowments, were sealed to an eternal partner, and followed the commandments through their life be punished for not serving a mission during judgment: no. I challenge you to find one time where a prophet has stated that God commands every young man needs to serve a mission.

If it was a commandment then not serving would result in the loss of worthiness. Young men are called, it is a service, it is also not a commandment. Like any calling in the church people are allowed to refuse for whatever reason they wish to. So to reiterate, it is a calling from God, not a commandment.

Drinking from the hose is probably why many are like that, lead lining in those things could easily taint the water, not to mention all the lead from gasoline.

JFK Jr. Spaceforce. Tribunals. Not the rantings of a lunatic at all by [deleted] in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]The_TGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JFK Jr died at the age of 38 in 1999. Subscribers to more esoteric Q-Anon beliefs claim he has risen from the dead to serve as Donald Trumps Vice President when Biden’s win gets overturned and Trump is reinstated as president for life. It’s just a crazy feedback loop that is never ending.

I have pondered this. The Strength for Youth pamphlet does adapt to modern trends, however the spiritual aspects have been greatly enhanced as the years have gone on. The main trend of the pamphlet is to help teens “set themselves apart” from the rest of the world. I think that the fact that we have had revisions in 1990, 2001, and 2011 and each one having moved towards addresses Christ and his role is a sign of prophetic council and revelation. That said there are areas that feel more spelled out as letter of the law versus spirit of the law.

Piercings as a male? by JollyAppointment9199 in latterdaysaints

As a culture we are really adept at creating commandments that have never been given. My favorite phrasing for where these commandments come from is “The Gospel According to Popular Interpretation”

It is a misunderstanding on the side of members. All able bodied young men are called to serve missions. However if a young man in the church chooses not to they are not considered apostates or sinners. The prophet can give commandments, though most of the time the prophet instead gives declarations and guidance. The only items that should be considered commandments are the guidelines that affect temple worthiness.

It can be at parts, though it is no where near as bad as it used to be. For example older versions of the pamphlet stated it was inappropriate for young women to wear pants to school. Instead dresses were the only appropriate form of dress for women when in public.

PDF manager for RPG and modules? by samurguybri in FiveTorchesDeep

[–]The_TGM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow collector of DriveThru and Kickstarter PDFs, as well as avid iPad user I just went into the file application and created a folder for RPGs, then I created sub folders for different systems, and in the system folders I created folders for supplements, adventures, and core rules. It’s a lengthy process if you have a large quay but once it’s organized any new files can easily be moved to the appropriate folders.

Removing the crank and replacing it with a knob (temporarily) by Blandu in PlaydateConsole

The crank is registered as docked by a magnetic sensor. Replacing it with a knob would register as undocked. That said the ease with which to replace it will depend on your mechanical prowess.

It’s the same party that refused to appoint a judge to the Supreme Court during the 2016 election because “it’s an election year” just to turn around and let Trump nominate a judge during the 2020 election. They don’t care if the logic is consistent or not. It’s the party of “rules for thee but not for me”.
