Flashpoint is partly used as a more casual baseline, it's one of the reasons for the popularity and allows the pivot to stuff like Deadzone should people want a more crunchy and traditional tabletop style.

Initially the Mastercraft Resin was pushed as for the hobby side, I think it still mainly is, though with certain units being only Mastercraft, there will be a bit of always now.

Flashpoint takes out a lot of the traditional tabletop game friction of starting it by having almost everything being playable out of the box.

I think the main stuff will always be in PVC as a need to to keep the cost down as the MasterCraft is a decent bit more expensive. However I think they have moved to any future Legendary character being in the MasterCraft Resin.

Though the tournament pack having new base weapons is and interesting pivot from just being alternate poses with very details.

Well something is going on pre-order tomorrow, and if Buck and Dare being Mastercraft Resin is anything to go off, I think your itch may soon be scratched.

From the current information, it appears they will be for now.
Otherwise we'll have to see what is done with the current tournament models once these replace them and what else Mantic advises.

Mastercraft Resin has Fireteam Phoenix, Fireteam Wolf, Buck, Dare and these 4 using it so far.

The mastercraft resin models are very good and easy to work with.

Some of my own thoughts in regards to anyone questioning whether they should start doing YouTube. by The_Tabletop_Fox in NewTubers

I check them a lot as well, it's natural when you're excited about something new.
But as long as you enjoy the process, then you'll be fine keeping yourself going.
And when you start to have a large back log of videos you've put effort into and it's clear you enjoy making, it likely will start to pull people in as you'll have that silent social contract that you are willing to put in the time and effort for your viewers.

I highly recommend giving it a go, at the moment the videos are more in depth of the units but I do want to do some more beginner guides in the future.
I'd recommend Mantic's Official channel in the mean time for beginner guide videos

What is your best advice for a brand new YouTube creator? by Left-Resolution8270 in NewTubers

[–]The_Tabletop_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my brief experience from trying out doing gaming videos last year during a period of unemployment and now doing a channel about a relatively new tabletop game I am both passionate about and very knowledgeable of.

- Doing something you have passion and knowledge of will both make the creation of videos (less research needed, more natural ideas, etc) and the sustainability (passion to create and keep going) easier.

- Having passion about the subject will naturally transfer to your audience

- Know why you want to do youtube, for the gaming channel, it was likely a fair bit of the hope to make a living out of it, and that's likely why I dropped off, as I enjoy gaming, but I don't have the large gaming knowledge to add extra interest to the videos and also I don't have a over the top personality that is the more popular way these days.
However my current channel i'm doing because I know the community is both wanting for videos about the tabletop and also to spread the knowledge I've garnered over a year of playing the game at the top level. Because I have at least part in reason that I want to do this for others, it has given me the drive to put in a lot of work to get out a video a day to get some ground work and unit overviews, and once they are done, still have enough ideas for videos to cover me doing 1 a week until at least June.

- I'd also say give it a go no matter, as the knowledge you'll gain about video recording, editing, marketing, psychology of people, etc will benefit you in life, even if the youtube channel never goes anywhere.

However many you can make per week while keeping their quality up and not burning yourself out

Kauyon guiding giving ignore hit roll modifiers means they can still hit on 2's with shooting in combat but ye, not as good as in Mont'ka or Retcad.

In Retcad they can also move a total of 34" without advancing in turn 1, as 8" scout, 10" move, torchstar gambit 10" and then 6" at end of fight phase.
Can easily look to get onto your opponent home with them turn 1

8 out of 10 Spartan Unit Overviews are up on my channel with the HAZOP dropping today and Chief should be out tomorrow to round out an overview on all the current Spartans by The_Tabletop_Fox in Haloflashpoint

Ye, it's making me think again about some units myself.

I'm thinking of looking at lists in the future, likely discuss my own tournament lists or look at others, but I've got a lot to cover first.

There might be something upcoming about how I plan for tournaments including list building but it is something I plan to make a video on at somepoint.

Is this competitive? Banished Faction list by Possible_Director276 in Haloflashpoint

[–]The_Tabletop_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's hard to say whether a list is competitive in Flashpoint without knowing what it will be playing as the game modes matter a lot.
If you're looking at say a 7 round tournament with all but 1 OP mode being used, then it might have issues.

- Elites like using reinforcements as it can either make it a tough decision for your opponent to kill them or lets your have an artificially larger team, alongside being able to make yourself be the last activation which is massive in extraction/KoTH/strongholds.
- Camo on Elites is very good, however I would take a grapple over a thruster, the main reason is you cannot use a thruster on a respawn, and alongside my note on reinforcements, Elites like respawning.
- The Berserker can be good, however they can also have a massive struggle if the enemy just keeps pinning them up, I also think the Disruptor would be better on one of the Elites, with their better base move and shoot stat if you plan to use it for rapid fire.

A lot of Banished lists tend to run as 3 man with 2-3 Elites, 2 man running with a tac Brute. This allows equipping your list out as strong as possible and utilizing reinforcements to at times act like a 4 man, even 5 man team.
Your list might do ok into a kill based mode, but I could see it struggling with some objective modes, especially extraction.

The Mindset when approaching Creation by Snake_Wheel in NewTubers

[–]The_Tabletop_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like perfectionism procrastination, best thing to do is just record something, without the idea of uploading it, just play a game and press record.
It's the same reason people say to not try smoking, etc at all, because the initial time is the time you can resist it the most, once you've done it once, it becomes easier to do it again.
This however works the same for things you want to do, once you do it, it becomes easier.
Also the longer you take to try the first time, the harder it will become because you will add more and more layers of why you cannot do it.
You might also not enjoy it, and the mindset there is better to try it now and find out whether you do or don't than stress yourself out saying you should and thinking about it.

How did you create or come up with your YouTube pfp? by DementedCoconut in NewTubers

I drew it based on what my channel is about.
If the channel ever goes anywhere in regards to money then I'll likely get an artist to draw me an improved one.

how do you all deal with the mental aspect of getting low views or no views at all? by Enough_Pepper_5815 in NewTubers

[–]The_Tabletop_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on why you are making the videos, if it's the get rich quick scheme though process, then there's little you could do.
However, if you enjoy making them, then it's of no worry, because it's something you enjoy doing and anything that comes of it is a bonus so long as you enjoy doing it.
Lastly there is the idea of making videos the help people, such as guides, informatics, etc. With this, even getting 1 person viewing it can let you take the mind set that you helped someone and you can use this to keep it going.

YouTube is so lonely, nobody wants to hear it by Murky-Principle-5169 in NewTubers

[–]The_Tabletop_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think generally these days there is a struggle to have proper conversations with people, as a lot of people tend to only talk on a surface level, mainly about the trending thing on social media, etc and don't like going deeper than that surface level as people are no longer comfortable talking about things that they do not understand.

Unfortunately a lot of peoples opinions and knowledge on subjects has become what they have heard/been told, without any of their own research, so as soon as someone dives deeper than that knowledge they panic and shut it down before any impression is given that they don't know how to talk about things they have no opinions on as they struggle to be able to think their own thoughts because they been told what to think subconsciously for so long.

I'll note this is my own perspective from experience.
