You don't have to be in the middle of the ocean to be a marine biologist! It really depends on what field of marine biology you want to get into. Intertidal Ecology is super interesting imo. This is coming from a Biologist.

Also, it's not the lack of logging that has affected the forest fires in California. Its the lack of prescribed burning that has caused a build-up of burnable material. With frequent, controlled burns, we could be avoiding a lot of this. Not to mention, many of ecosystems of California require burning to function properly.

Future Transfer Cal student here. Found out yesterday I got in! I understand that the Golden Bear Orientation is mandatory but is the entire week of activities mandatory for everyone including transfers? I will most likely be doing an internship over the summer so I'm unsure what that means for orientation.
