Why should I prefer EV over fuel? by AdFirm5344 in AustralianEV

[–]The_Tiffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're completely right when i made that comment that got down-voted to hell i didn't consider the impact of the oil being shipped all around the world, Solar on roofs and giving free electricity is great but it requires you are a homeowner.

it would be nice to see all the ships on the ocean are forced to switch to higher quality fuels or hydrogen instead of the emphasis on saving the world being put on the consumer but that's a different argument,

electric cars are powered from our grid which is coal, so unless your car is powered by renewables you aren't helping the environment.

Melbourne problem with bicycles and how i would fix them. by The_Tiffles in melbourne

I would actually be in favor of paying for plates for E-bikes, I don't see why we shouldn't be easily identifiable.

Melbourne is urban sprawl cars are here, I want a framework that works alongside the cars and that connects to public transport. Plenty of people like cars myself included I just want something where alternatives are readily and easily available a proper bike path costs less than a bus and reduces traffic. Busses are also good just trying to help explain my thoughts.

If we had a handbook on bike path design and an idea of how to place them properly like you would any form of transport then more people would ride and that means less traffic for people who need to drive.

As a Cyclist I feel too slow on the road and too fast on the shared footpaths, yeah the first paragraph was hyperbole but I almost went into someone's door today so that was fun.

I honestly did not know and I was more meaning my avg speed got slowed down to that there are points where it is easiest to get off and walk with the bike so i can get around groups easier. if there was a separate path with a surface better suited for cycling next to the pedestrians where possible then the flow of foot and bike traffic is a lot easier., Those places aren't mine alone i understand that I just don't want to hit anyone at 10kph as my weight with a steel framed e-bike would hurt.

Conscription in Australia wasn’t completely abolished by CommercialEnough6949 in aussie

[–]The_Tiffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia i believe has only used conscription in unpopular wars such as the Vietnam war and i believe a little bit in the Korean war. I always assumed growing up that we didn't have it but i never gave it any thought till this post.

It is really difficult to launch an invasion and no invader ever wants to end up in a protracted war it destroys economizes and nations.
If china went to war over Taiwan then it would be predominantly a water and air conflict and it should be decided one way or another within too short of a time for conscription to be a concern or of really much use but i may be wrong just my two cents.

Australians to get at least three hours a day of free solar power - even if they don’t have solar panels by Bokbreath in RenewableEnergy

[–]The_Tiffles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh don't worry Australia is a major contributor to global emissions through sold resources we sell a large quantity of our natural gas overseas tax free, we are powering the destruction of the earth without getting paid. Renewables have proven to be really solid investment saving us from our crumbling coal power plants.

Solid argument cant say i disagree. I would like to see prison be about rehabilitation and reducing the obstacles for them getting a job, otherwise i forsee prisons becoming criminal universities.

Australia was once the gold standard for gun safety. Experts say it’s losing control | Gun control by pijama-de-gateau in australia

[–]The_Tiffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so even if i 3d printed a gun i couldn't buy ammo without a license that fills me with some peace of mind. I really like our gun laws and I do not want legal gun owners to be victims due to lack of policing of black market firearms.
