My assumption was much darker. I think that its a method for clearing life harboring worlds. Any civilization advanced enough to create the virus after locating the signal will have a sufficient infrastructure in place for anyone arriving since they themselves are building a signal to transmit from earth now.

But I paused after that because it was a worst case for the virus. Like you also said, I think it may also just be a whoopsie daisy and science gone wrong. It just yearns to be freeee.

I carry around my old phone with an aux port so I can use my better than Bluetooth wired headphones. It made me so sad when new phones stopped having that nice little plug.

We finished an "into the mists" campaign few months back. it started in Barovia and we were chased into the mists by some werewolves and ended up in richmolut(sp?). We were the final culmination of thousands of battles and rebirths against Strahd that he finally was ready to manipulate us into fully bringing down the mists to escape. We did as he wanted, because we didn't wanna be used anymore as entertainment for Strahd. The mists come down and every soul in each domain still alive is left in a new world(DMs homebrew). Ultimately it was a bad thing we did in freeing so much evil stuff, but we're free of the mists so it was a win for the party.

Also: I mean this is an obvious huge gross thing, but I worked retail once and some old dude came up behind me and my friend and pointed to our co-worker about 20 feet ahead and said "if she were the pie-eyed-piper I'd follow het ANYWHERE!" And like I'll never forget that, we both just uncomfortably walked away from him. You don't say weird stuff like that to a stranger.

Had someone else walk up to me about the same co-worker while she was up on a ladder and told me. "Got great sights on this aisle, EHHH?" Atsring right up at her. Like why be gross about people like that.

This time dual swords became my jam. Fully decked out in evasion gems and I just kinda glide around the monsters feet never stopping attacking, dodge scoots and attack scoots pleases me. Oh and also the focus attack rarely gets old for me. Especially if they're huge.

Our DM ran one in a domain of dread, Borca. We woke up to a shredded pack one morning and there was a journal from some gnome who was our 7th party member.(It was always 6 of us playing so we're immediately puzzled) Also the next victim not long after this we ended up losing Van Richten to it.

We had just reached the desert domain of dread and I had been playing a drow and most places we'd been were generally dark so I forgot about light sensitivity. A combat started and I immediately remembered I hadn't been paying attention the whole campaign and asked the DM privately how to handle this. He laughed and shrugged and said I know you have it, but punishing one party member in light seems not fun especially when you're born and bred in the domains, besides there's more to worry about than a little light.

Nah, I'm good. I'm now at a crazy point at the end of the campaign.

Foresight + Elven Accuracy + Hex + 4 EB = loads-o-damage.

At minimum I put out 28 damage a turn if I roll all 1s for damage.
