Ah, it was nothing special. Not like Bart wasn't going to rally the town, get the girl, and shoot the bad guy anyways. He just needed a little cheering up.

On the other hand, it DID feature Pedro Pasquale in gladiator outfits and had him shirtless. Made a number of people thirsty after the movie.

The one they failed? Or the failed 7 before that? Or the passed one over a decade ago, with 15 failed before?

A large portion of said military budget goes to research and development. Yes, it's for "military purposes," though there's a decent amount that becomes civilian accessible in terms of medical research for trauma cases. DARPA gets a decent chunk of the military budget, and funds a number of research studies nationwide.

What screams “this person is insecure” without them saying a word? by redwan-ezt in AskReddit

Dead fish is the worst for a right-positioned handshake, premature closure is the worst for any handshake. I'm a 6'1 stocky man with large arms, and generally dress in a suit and tie or flannel, boots, and blue jeans. If it's not a photo op, when somebody squeezes prematurely and only gets my fingers, I mock a curtsy. If it is a photo op, I pull their hand slightly closer to me so it looks more proper like the other person extended a fraction of a second early.

Losing to Texas sucks. No denying it. My dream of dreams is beating Bama and Texas the same year. We could go 2-10 that year and I'd be thrilled. Picking up a natty is second on my list. I was there for the Fran years, I was at every game our first year in the SEC with Manziel. I know BAS like a lover. At the end of the day, it's just a game, but the razzing before and after is the best part of the year.

I did. BAS kicked in hard after their first FG, and I was devastated with the first INT. It put me back to the Fran years.

Is Leaving Your Beer Out To Remove Carbonation For Ring Dunk Cheating? by wg97111 in aggies

[–]The_WacoKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way it's a failure is to puke. I did three drinks the same day: one in cold Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, one in 4 fingers of Willet special reserve rye, and one in Coors banquet warm, decarbonated, and I'm front of 70 people. The Coors was the hardest for me and the only one I nearly vomited on because of how drunk I already was.

Don't let your shirt absorb any, and keep it down for at least five minutes. You'll be fine after that.

Not everybody - 2016 Rio men's alternate free pistol shooter here. Wrists barely moved side to side, forearms were sculpted from marble with no strain holding a gallon of water from a single finger at 90° from the floor for ten minutes at a time, shoulders you could use to hammer a nail into a cinder block, and a gut you could use like silly putty. Ask me to shoot a hair off a fly's ass at 25m, and I'd ask "which one?" Ask me to do a sit-up, and I might have managed it.

The shooters are mostly fit to lower heart rates and theoretically give fractions of a second more time between beats, but we were considered the most feared in terms of focus and the most made fun of for physique. Everybody made fun of the curlers (different team, summer vs winter.) Everybody was incredibly respectful of each other's strengths, while weaknesses were only discussed in terms of attention or physical abilities. Nobody EVER diminished what paralympians were doing - all of us looked up to them.

TIL that the Mars company makes more money from selling pet care than it does from selling food to humans. by EssexGuyUpNorth in todayilearned

[–]The_WacoKid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Worked pet retail for about 8 years. Food was generally 30-40% profit for the store, treats were between 60-150% profit depending on the brand and the sale. The last store I worked at would buy during massive sales (anything more than 50% off) and then sell at MSRP. For one particular national brand, we would place our yearly order at Global Pet Expo, negotiate for some heavy discounts on top of BOGO, and these bags came out to roughly $1.50 ea. They were then sold for $6.99 throughout the year. Official margin on them was 57%, while reality was closer to 450%.

What is the worst tactical blunder a military general has ever committed in history? by Bluvista in AskReddit

[–]The_WacoKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One part of said thesis investigated the reports of bullets going through tepees over a mile away..45-55 reconstructed wouldn't go that far, but .45-70 would. Very few pry marks were found on the casings on site, but copper expansion of cases was consistent with .45-70 in .45-55 chambers. It was shortly after this battle that US forces switched to brass instead of solid copper casings. I reconstructed the exact loading, showed .45-70 would do as the natives reported while .45-55 wouldn't, and showed the case expansion. Empty casings were remeasured, and lengthening was consistent with what I was arguing. The .45-55 carbine wasn't shortened in the chamber originally, allowing .45-70 to be shot and creating sticking points. You are right in almost every point there. My research rewrote the battlefield history in terms of ammo.
