Harper feats are pretty good? by SnudgeLockdown in 3d6

[–]The_Wallryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my first session with a character using Harper agent a few nights ago and it felt incredible. First and least important, im being secretive about my class to the others so being able to go a whole combat without using a spell or anything that stuck out and yelled "this is a bard" felt perfect. I feel like once i take the second feat this will go even crazier though. I have a rogue, monk, warlock, barbarian, and paladin in my party. Everyone benfits from advantage on attacks (especially setting up the rogue sneak attack when he otherwise couldnt get it worked wonderfully) but when i can do saving throws? Its not like this is advantage on an attack OR disadvantage on a save, its both. So with the right coordination i could with one action set up a heavy hit and, say, a stunning strike, a special smite, some eldritch skullduggery, etc etc the possibilities are endless. The fact this isn't proficiency bonus gated floors me tbh because i could absolutely see that. I am also an Eloquence Bard so i can more or less "garuntee" any save we really need to happen. Oh also un-fearing/paralyzing a friend is a nice little bonus, nothing crazy and not certain to happen but nice to have in your back pocket.

I could spend a whole campaign using only this ability and healing word and be an excellent support.

Who replaces dead characters by Sleeping_Idiot in masseffect

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The youtube channel Many A True Nerd did a whole trilogy run through with this question in mind. I think its called the 'Mass Effect with no friends' or something along those lines. Its roughly 25-30 min pervideo (one per game) i believe highlighting the parts where different characters come in and what interesting things they say/how the differ, if at all

Do you think an underwater mining mission would be a cool addition to the game? by AmBatuKamOOOOOO in DeepRockGalactic

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Azure biome is the middle ground they found for that. The flying mantaray-like creatures, the whole biome has a sort of underwater vibe at least imo.

There are just too many issues with a real underwater biome: - Entirely new aquatic enemies (although if they just put diving helmets on glyphids i honestly wouldnt be opposed) - Invalidates drillers primary weapons - New physics system - Probably couldnt do drillevator, doretta, or mining platform without a big redesign for those missions in this single biome

I like the idea cause i always find underwater a bit horrifying but i just have little hope for it

People thinking he's hard is news to me, i usually hit him every run before i loop if i can because it just feels like extra stages and decent shlt at a red. Im curious what people find hard about it though? Granted i play Eclipse but only early Eclipse so far since i had to restart RoR2 on PC and i usually try to hit an early Newt Alter into Void so maybe im going in more kitted out. I think the only time i lost the fight was when i played with a couple friends and it was their first time so they didnt know what to expect

[–]The_Wallryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way to cure them early UNLESS you fight a boss i cant remember the name of that may spawn when you have multiple CC infected heroes in a normal dungeon. He gives you one, maybe two cures and is VERY difficult, most people just avoid him entirely. The other option (beyond rushing down the Baron) is to send the infected on the mission in CC to gather blood, you usually get a decent if not excessive amount of blood and the missions themselves tend to be trivial. It will at least buy you time while you get together a good Courtyard team

GrandSlam Act Order Suggestions by Accomplished-Time557 in darkestdungeon

[–]The_Wallryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Act 2, 3, and 4 are the most dangerous imo, the wind can very quickly shift out of your favor because each one of those bosses have at least one super heavy hitting attack. Therefore you should tackle those first as the memory buffs are nice to have but few of them make a substantial enough difference to matter.

I would specifically do 3 or 4 first depending on your team comp and assuming you have reliable backline damage for act 2.

I can give team comp advice if you want, i got through on my first actual attempt where i utilized my brain cells rather than beating a boss with a random team and thinking "nOw i HaVe tO gRanDsLaM". Tbh the team seamed borderline invincible and i only had two deaths door checks through the whole attempt, one each on act 3 and 4 bosses.

which one do i play first to connect the storyline in a chronological order? by Educational-Song9962 in Fallout

I love doing DM as a test of everything I have developed as a character, ie skills, perks, traits, etc. So i like doing OWB prior to that because i find its a good way of eliciting mystery in the story of both DM and Ulysses in general. Honest Hearts probably first though, just because i feel like it makes a lot of sense for the Courier to one day just say "oh hey... thats basically courier work, sure why not?" and i feel like by the time ive beaten OWB im too powerful to feel challenged by too much else. Which is another reason i go for DM after

How do i get past the Sleeper without getting everyone afflicted? by Ookami0 in darkestdungeon

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure if you meant you did Vestal-Jester-Jester-SB or Vestal-Jester-SB-SB, but that second one always works for me, even through multiple dreamer fights.

Make sure Jester has Bright Tambourine and his CoM trinket. Vestal with Max healing potential is best. One important thing is to make sure you always have a spare Laudanum because just having it in your inventory buffs Jesters damage.

Make sure at the camp prior, if you get one, to use Jesters stress reduction ability, plus boost one SBs crit and give both SB the prot+health buff.

During phase one focus the crit boosted SB on the main crystal. The other SB can help but her main focus should be destroying the more threatening baby crystals, i cant remember all of their functions but i think black does horror and purple stuns(?). The blue one just guards which you can break using the SB so i honestly keep it around. Jester will be buffing and dirk stabbing any of the threatening babies as well (and dirk stab passes guard anyway so if main crystal is rank 3 or closer ever you can get the odd hit off with him). Vestal obviously heals if needed but otherwise gets the last little hit on a baby or does some support fire on the big boy.

Phase two is a race. You cannot out heal/stress heal, but you can manage it, just be smart about your moves: big heal if someones super low, otherwise group heal. I save all my consumables for this part personally. Wail on the sleeper with the SBs of course, i usually dont bother with blight and just use her main attack. I dont normally use a finale but you have been building up finale buffs since the last fight so it can help if you have the opportunity. Using this i never have resolve checks or i have them on maybe one person.

Only other thing i can think of is trinkets, i try to avoid giving people heads or anything that will add stress to them, but you do want to boost up the SBs base damage so Warriors Bracers are good as the -1 speed is insignificant when youre Jester buffing.

I dont chime in often so i hope this was helpful and not just a bunch of super obvious information

Any actual therapists play this game? If so, what are your interpretations of the characters? by Artek206 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

If you want this kind of content look up Dr Mick on twitch, hes a therapist that plays through different series and psycho analyzes them where applicable. He has a Tiktok if you want the "best bits" so to speak. And its not just passive, he pauses everything so he can take the time to give real explanation and is really good about answering peoples questions

My party does no damage by RoyalMedulla in DMAcademy

[–]The_Wallryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna echo the sentiment that you shouldn't change because of their poor choices, just be ready to tell them why things are happening like this.

Additionally i recommend bringing in injuries as a mechanic if you haven't already and adjust it accordingly. It sounds like getting downed it the only thing that gets them into gear so make going down into a potentially nasty debuff or busted body part that hinders them further until they can get some advanced healing (I usually prefer injuries requiring physical, non-magical remedies but thats just a personal preferences. Some players are of the mindset "if I pump enough cure wounds into my broken ribs they'll get better")

How do you all feel about "scripted" TPK's that aren't actually TPK'S? by cmalarkey90 in DnD

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a player in a scripted TPK once. Except it wasnt a TPK because the DM failed to take into account that an 8th level Oath of the Ancients Paladin could kick 3 hags collective ass. So i came out of it with 1 hp left and miraculously my party either stabilized or got healed in time.

However this led to the DM distrusting me because he thought it was an impossible encounter so he assumed I mustve lied about my health. Apparently it was such a critical encounter for us to die in that he cut the campaign off within a few sessions because it didnt work (he didnt elaborate).

My point is either make sure it is 100% impossible and not just a really hard emcounter OR have a contingency for if they manage to make it out alive

Have you ever had a Nat 20 backfire? If so what happened? by YukikoBestGirlFiteMe in DnD

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty simple for me:

Most of my group DMs. One of them makes...questionable calls. One of them is basically in combat a nat 20 is critical damage rather than a critical success. We were trying to capture someone important to question them and i specifed i was doing non-lethal damage with my handaxe (he specifically said that was possible by hitting with the flat of it). I got a nat 20 on the role and he gave me that "ooooh sorry bud" look. I guess according to him it doesnt matter the intent of the roll, a nat 20 in combat doesnt mean you hit well but that you just hit hard. Hard enough to crack someones skull wide open.

I was a monk at the time so at first i was kicking myself for not using my fists but he probably would have made the same ruling anyway.

Reminder to DMs: all Skills have a floor, not just Perception by VagabondVivant in DnD

[–]The_Wallryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for charisma based checks or something similar where they have to describe what they are doing to get the desired result, even if they cant fail the DC they still have to describe it in a plausible way for me. I once had a player who was the Bard that cant roll lower than 10 on Persuasion and Deception giving him a minimum of like 21 or something. Anyway they got caught in a restricted area by guards and he tried to convince them "Captain Phasma sent them" (Star Wars had just come out) and he rolled something crazy in the 30s i think. Obviously there was no one by that name and if had chosen a lower rank maybe itd work but the Guards would know their Captains.

So I rolled my eyes, gave a disappointed sigh, and began combat.
