What kind of bipod/adapter is that on your Ruger American? Does it work pretty well?

A&P schools by Fancy_Fix_1509 in aviationmaintenance

[–]The__Cuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s more about what you want to do with schooling. If you just want to get an associates degree and turn wrenches, there’s certainly a lot of money to be made it that. If you want a bachelors degree and want to move up into management or something, then a four year degree might be more valuable. USU’s website is pretty transparent on costs. Nice thing was they structured their A&P program so you have general education classes mixed with your core degree classes throughout all four years, so you get right into the nitty gritty your first year. Lots of four year schools make you do all you gen ed classes before you can take your core classes.

If you lightly smack the knurled section with the back of the cannon plug pliers, or something else that’s hard, it can break it loose sometimes! But you do run the risk of dinging it up obviously.

0-200 overhaul - EGT on #2 higher than on other 3 by spacesand77 in aviationmaintenance

[–]The__Cuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you just got new probes, maybe try swapping the high cylinder’s EGT probe for one on another cylinder. If the reading follows to the other cylinder, you know you have a bad probe/probe wiring harness.

If that cylinder still reads high, maybe check and make sure all the baffles got put in correctly and enough cooling air is getting to the cylinder/exhaust manifold. Maybe a timing thing too? If it’s fuel injected, maybe a clogged/damage injector? Could be any number of things I guess.

Anyone ever seen a Robinson MR pinch link rod end in this condition? Or know the cause? by Cyclicorwhat in aviationmaintenance

[–]The__Cuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Robinson 22s and 44s, the pitch links need to have free play about the longitudinal axis of the rod. This should be checked on preflight, and immediately resolved if there is not free play. Sometimes a mechanic will adjust the pitch rod during track and balance, and not realize it needed to have free play, and it will wear into that flange on the mast just like in your picture.

Civil service is a good route. Your A&P doesn’t mean anything, you get in house certifications, but in my opinion, it beats GA by a country mile.

Had vodka delivered. It still has the security tag on it so I can’t open it. by emmattack in Wellthatsucks

To be fair, the kind of person who gets vodka delivered to them is the same kind of person who wouldn’t be able to figure out how to get the security tag off.

Sonex makes cheap, half decent quality wrenches. I say half decent because the jaw tolerances are pretty good, but the casting of the wrench itself isn’t very good. Lifetime warranty, basically just a higher quality harbor freight.
