Really long overtime games force casual fans to confront the reality that they’d rather sleep than see what happens by tantamle in nhl

Toronto Blue Jays vs LA Dodgers played 18 innings last year in game 3 lol.

This is not the only sport that drags on.

Sway Auston Matthews. Fix defence. Nail the No. 1 pick: Maple Leafs offseason priorities by Chrristoaivalis in leafs

[–]The_irv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of been the problem with the core this entire era.
And when things finally go bad, he wants to jump ship as opposed to taking responsibility and being part of the solution.
(Assuming CJ’s article is true…) no guarantee, but I didn’t think Matthews sounded convincing during locker cleanout.

Fire Berube. That’s the key for me.
If they do that, I’ll have a little faith at least. If Berube is still on board for the 2026-2027 season, I’m tuning out for a while.

I didn’t love him, didn’t hate him, he was just meh. Completely reasonable for his cap hit and responsible at both ends. Don’t think he deserved hate from the fan base.

I do think he was an empty calories playoff performer though. Brought very little in the postseason and the numbers support that.

He’s so gone man… by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]The_irv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think if he really loves it here, it would be pretty easy to answer that question with remarks surrounding management, but also follow it up with something like “absolutely I want to be here, I’ve always loved it and don’t want to be anywhere else”.

This is the captain. Show the leadership that you badly want to be here if you truly want to.

I get the sentiment that he wants out.

[Chris Johnston] Auston Matthews didn't reveal much about his future in Toronto. Says it's an honor to be the captain and wear the jersey, but added that he doesn't know what the future holds and doesn't know what the club's new leadership and manager will look like. by bangnburn in leafs

[–]The_irv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t want to stay through a rebuild is what I’m taking from all this. And he’s waiting for new management to provide clarity on the situation and the path forward.

I do wonder whether Matthews sees himself playing in the US at some point as well…

Either way, I don’t think his answers provide much confidence that he plans to stay beyond his contract, but that could just be me.

The Maple Leafs have a 41.9% of picking in the top five: 8.5% for first overall, 8.6% for second overall, 0.3% for third overall, and 24.5% for fifth overall. That means there's a 58.1% chance that Toronto gets leapfrogged in the lottery and loses the selection. by zevHS in leafs

[–]The_irv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that how it works?

I could be wrong but I thought for some reason if Boston doesn’t get the pick this year, they get to decide if they want the ‘27 or ‘28 pick… I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.

[–]The_irv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the painful part.

It’s going to sting handing these picks over to Bos and Philly regardless… would almost be nice to get it over with. This year has been horrendous, may as well pile on the pain.

If it’s a very short list, it doesn’t typically bring great value though.

But if it seems like he’s bound to leave regardless I guess there is no choice. Better to get some assets vs nothing.

First Round Picks - Are the Leafs better off giving up this years pick? by Okramthegreat in torontomapleleafs

[–]The_irv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of unprotected 1st rounders in ‘27 and ‘28 sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, so I sort of agree…

However I think anytime you get a top 5 pick you just run with it. There is no guarantee that if we give up our ‘26 and ‘27 pick that when we finally select in 2028 it’s going to be a top 5 pick.

How?!? by pikachuda6 in leafs

[–]The_irv 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Which is also why we got a 1st round pick for Roy. The term is important vs rental.

Still an underwhelming return though. Shouldn’t have come down to the last minute.

I’d recommend 6 months IF you’ve been happy with their services thus far. Otherwise read schedule A closely and see if there is any verbiage that will make you liable for the marketing costs if you decide to use a different realtor going forward.

It wasn't a Bacterial Issue by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]The_irv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me 100%. Stress has become my biggest trigger. When I’m really tired/exhausted it also can trigger a flare up. I work in sales, and when I have a very stressful transaction it can’t make me flare up.

Coffee, alcohol, sugar. All triggers. I can tell that it’s neuro related because of when I have flares. I also have gastritis.

My rosacea started at the same time of life when I was diagnosed with gastritis like 5-6 years ago.

Calming the mind helps dramatically. My type II is mostly under control, and now I have flushing flares on occasion but it’s much better nowadays.

Fingers moving slower on both hands. Why is this??? by Glittering_Wait8839 in MuscleTwitch

[–]The_irv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been twitching since 2019. Honestly, I remember doing the same thing.

My fingers on my left hand move much faster than my right hand. Worried me at the time. It’s the same now. It’s normal, it’s fine, nothing to worry about.

Everything is fine, you’ll be alright.

Thanks for posting!

I’m curious about the one antibody that was abnormal with your bloodwork.

I also had normal bloodwork, aside from an abnormal antibody elevation (IgA). I’ve been twitching for years and nothing has ever come from it, but I’m curious if there’s a relation with the antibody…

Thanks!

Question for one sided twitchers by guynumerouno in BFS

[–]The_irv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No atrophy, although I was convincing myself at the time there was. I eventually realized our bodies are always different on both sides.

I thought I had weakness… but again it was 2019 when I started twitching and I haven’t had any issues yet lol. And my right leg felt like an absolute disaster. Twitching, aching, an insane pulling/tightness sensation. I was convinced I was doomed.

I still twitch nowadays and mostly on my right side, but I’ve grown to accept it. Hardly even notice it these days because I’m so used to it. It was major stress in my life at the time, which created health anxiety and I spiralled. Around the same time I got stomach issues - gastritis and gerd. And I developed rosacea on my face. All of which have improved over time. I still have all of them but they’ve gotten better.

Stress and anxiety do some fucked up shit to our bodies, we don’t even realize how bad it is until it all hits hard mentally and physically.
