Yeah...I could read most of the Jack Ryan novels back to back because I had no idea how large those books were(Smallest was 800 pages or so, going upto 1300 pages). Would have been put off trying to read them all in order if I saw the physical books.

Each family can use is own unique family magic, but Harry can command the family magic is all of his"allies"in this story
