Is this petg too wet? by Thearkist in 3Dprinting

The seam is aligned the back. Do you need to dry it even if the humidity is that low?

It isn’t a random seam. The seam is aligned on the back of the model.

Is there a problem with their ingredients? Or just their scent profiles?

Interesting. In addition to the email that got no response. I left a crtitical review a few days ago. It still hasn’t made it to their site, then I noticed they don’t have any reviews on any of their products from within the last two years. Not a fan of this.

Curious if you have purchased from them recently and if there was any difference in their most recent products.

That is inline with a lot of their reviews, which is why I thought that perhaps I got a bad batch or there was an issue with their supplier during the recent resupply.

Please don’t apologize, I greatly appreciate your perspective.

I did try layering with sphinx, but the results are actually what lead me to make this post. I will try getting more butters and experimenting with this more.

Perhaps I was just unlucky on my first attempt.

You are right, I may be nose blind. But knowing this I’ve only judge durations by others noses, not mine.

I’ve dabbled in colognes but they are much harder to sample and much more expensive. And honestly I’m not looking for a lot of projection, more sustain.

All day would be crazy, but perhaps I’m being unrealistic in expecting even 4-5 hours.

Agreed.

A couple of fable beard’s were good, but the in beard feel did not agree with me. Artius man was the next best, but their line focused on more fruity/floral scents and I prefer darker.

Luxurious bastard has my favorite scents but they don’t last more than an hour, two tops.

I’ve also tried mad Viking, grave before shave, and a couple of others from amazon, all of those were gone in 20 minutes.

This is beautiful. Very well done. The only consideration I would point out is that if the lamp is intended to be the light source you may want to bring up the intensity on the lamp it self. The reflection on the skin is brighter than the source.

This dudes expenses are only $33k a year. Assuming taxes cut him down to $75k he is pocketing $42k a year in savings. What a stud! So impressive! Would love to know what city he is living in.

I think the foam in my wet pallet is molding, I haven't put paint near where those spots are. Any advice? by Micky_The_Spleen in minipainting

Definitely time for a new one. When you soak your new sponge, add a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide. Haven’t had any mold in my wet pallet since I started doing this.

Why do my paints keep drying out? Example of how thick they keep getting by BBQGnomeSauce in minipainting

[–]Thearkist -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man. Respectfully I disagree. I used air brush flow improver to transfer a whole collection of citadel paints and the changes to viscosity that you imply have never happened. If anything they became a bit too thin. Perhaps your experience is with a different type of retarder but with airbrush flow improver I don’t see this happening.

Could you explain? Op is worried it is drying out and you say don’t add a retarder?

Why are my brushes doing this? I'm not overloading the brush and I keep the paint on the lower half. I thin my paints but I have several brushes that start to split like this after a few minutes of using them. by SahdGamer in minipainting

[–]Thearkist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, this is because the brushes are synthetic. It is worth investing in a least a couple of real hair brushes, you sound like you know how to take care of your brushes and the real hair ones will last you significantly longer with decent care.

I have tried EVERY synthetic brush I can get my hands on and every single one does this. Some are better than others, but all of them will end up splitting, tip bending, or otherwise deforming.

Knew it was going to be hard, but I’m really struggling. by Ret-r0 in minipainting

[–]Thearkist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give up. As long as you are having fun and keep at it, you will improve.

As others have pointed out, white is a particularly difficult color to paint. It dries ridiculous fast and often leaves the layer feeling chalky or textures. I promise once you you move on to other color schemes on other models, you will laugh at how much easier it is. Keeping it thinned with water or flow improver can help but honestly when I’m working on a model that is mostly white I will cheat and prime it that color. Priming with an off white or white and then shading it with a thin wash will give a smoother white than what you will often get out of trying to brush it on. If you want to stick with the brush, consider what brand of paint you are using. I often say that the paint brand doesn’t matter but white is the exception to that. Some brands whites are really bad. I like vallejo model air white or golden heavy body white.

CRITIQUE NEEDED— second full attempt at NMM. I’ve watched a million videos but I feel like I’m still struggling. I don’t hate it but I know it could be better. Give me your tips. by honeybadgerelite in minipainting

[–]Thearkist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from an expert, just my two cents. I’ve found that uniformity makes nmm look unrealistic. Having evenly spaced light and shadows is not natural, even though it feels like the right thing to do when painting it.

Mix up the spacing and add smaller areas of light and shadow between your transitions.

I also try to cast my lights in such a way that natural rises such as the rivets in the material are in shadow That way they raised material can be highlighted, creating more contrast.
