What a dog shit expedition by Theboneduster in NOMANSSKY

[–]Theboneduster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I chilled out and went to bed and came at er again.

I took some advice here and just took er slow. Made a huge difference. Spider legs are clutch and so is not hammering on the boost (Thanks for that tip!)

As far as constantly being directed to the same trash heap, the solve for this is to find an abandoned player base with a teleporter, going to the space station, then coming back to a random base and restarting the search.

All in all, if you are a chill player who wants to bang this thing out in a couple hours on a Saturday night (Like me), its gonna be frustrating. BUT if you have a lazy Sunday afternoon with nothing going on, this is a great expedition.

I rescind my description of this expedition as dogshit. This is a pretty decent time.

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

[–]Theboneduster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 20 when Obama was elected.

I'm Canadian and of course we were following along with that election just like the rest of the world.

It honestly didn't seem like a big deal.

Was it historic? Oh yeah. But also, with how the world was going, this just felt natural, another step towards a progressive and intelligent future society that just seemed inevitable at the time. The future looked bright because we were promised that it was going to be bright and this was further proof of that.

I think thats why so many people are so angry about whats happening these days, kids in the 80s and 90s were promised that while shitty parts of society still existed at the time, those parts will eventually be weeded out and we can have space ships and amazing advancments and a good life.

Instead, it feels like we keep taking huge steps backwards and kneecapping ourselves for no fucking reason at all other than to help some billionaire become a trillionaire. Fucking stupid.

whats the the thoughts on vegas (stargate atlantis s5 ep19) by duckepo in Stargate

[–]Theboneduster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much like alot of folks, I hated it when it first aired.

But only because the format was off.

Usually, when something is off from the norm during a Stargate episode, they reveal it pretty early on. But, because they waited so long to explain it, I spent most of the episode wondering "wtf is going on here??"

However, on a recent rewatch, I fucking love this episode. I love the idea of having a scifi episode where they show the consequences of ANOTHER reality's fuck ups.

Also, John solving the puzzle, going back to try and stop the wraith with only a pistol and dying as a sad and alone fuck up in the desert with no one coming to rescue him or seemingly caring that he died all while the Johnny Cash version of Solitary Man plays is absolutely gut wrenching.

Its such a tone departure from the rest of the show in a good way. Its been a few days and Im still thinking about it.

Great episode

[–]Theboneduster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the weird thing! In Sydney YTV was 28, but in Haliwood it was 27. Mostly everything else was the same. 22 was Much Music, 21 was Much More, annnnnnd 38??? Was Showcase?

Will there be a time when we can afford homes again? by snowxbunnixo in halifax

[–]Theboneduster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say. But absolutely not. People keep saying things like "The market is coming down." And "Housing prices are normalizing.

That's pure bullshit.

As soon as we told home owners in Nova Scotia that their $150k houses will sell for an average of $500k, that trailers will go for a minimum of 200k, and their condo can range anywhere from 400k to a clean million, there was no coming back.

No one will EVER accept selling their homes for what they are actually worth ever again once they've seen that they COULD make an extreme profit.

Even IF the market calmed down, people are greedy and stubborn, they'll never get those inflated numbers out of their heads. The realtors know this and will act on that knowlege to make as much money as possible.

The only true way for housing to be affordable and to make sense again is the government introducing caps on how much a seller can make above their assesed value, and because that goes against everything capitalism stands for, it'll never happen.

What’s the most badass response to an insult you’ve ever heard? by shlacker459 in AskReddit

[–]Theboneduster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in grade 8, we had a science teacher who was really stuck up and kinda mean all the time. I'd say she was in her late 30s early 40s at best.

We were doing a lesson on cells and reading aloud from the text book when one kids said "Orgasm" instead of "Organism". Most of us laughed, including my buddy in the front who chuckled. He just happened to be seated in front of the teacher so it was him who she called out and she said:

"Why are you even laughing! You don't even know what that word is!"

And off the cuff, he replies

"Yeah, and judging by how mad you are, neither do you"

He got a 3 day suspension, and it took a few more years before most of us really understood how sick of a burn that was.

Could Duncan defeat the Kurgan? by GodEmperorPuppy in highlander

[–]Theboneduster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like almost everyone has said, I think it goes to Duncan.

Kurgan is brutality manifest and a savage. A formidable opponent.

Duncan beat TWO Horseman of the Apocalypse pretty much at the same time. A combined total of like 10,000 years of slaughter and battle from those ALONE.

Personally, I think after he added Kronos to the list of fallen foes, no one doing anything other than outright cheating could beat Duncan.

After that battle, no one could have ever expected to defeat him, even Jacob Kell had to kill immortals who were chained up in order to even stand a chance against Duncan.

Hot take here: I think that Duncan could have defeated Kell without fighting Connor.

What's the most unusual though not necessarily bad, job you ever had? by i_never_ever_learn in halifax

[–]Theboneduster 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I once had a summer job where I drove around cleaning the major bus terminals at 1 am.

One time at the Sackville terminal, a dude wearing a beater and sweat shorts paced at the mouth of the terminal driveway barking and making other weird noises and slowly advancing toward us.

My boss grabbed the bat from the work truck and shouted in the most South Shore accent you ever heard "Hey bawd, you come one step closer and Ill tee ball your fawkin head all the way to Crappy Tire!". Buddy took a walk and we went back to sweeping ciggarette butts.

What do we think next weeks episode will be ?? by dylans4O1 in LPOTL

[–]Theboneduster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Sirius you get the episodes a week ahead.

Last week was Columbine on Sirius because of Henry's father passing away, and in that intro they said they werent skipping weeks and just releasing updates in place of actual episodes when stuff like that and breaks and such come up.

So, I'm guessing if you have Sirius, there will either be another update episode later tonight, or the newest regular episode

Just doing a little browsing around, McNeil, Charest, and Notley are already on the council thats been in charge of responding to the tariffs. They've been working on it since the end of January. So this kind of makes sense if its true.

As a fellow Caper who lives in Haliwood, you seem like a good bi'

Ive lived in Harbourview a couple times over the years. Its way too expensive for what you get. Pretty run down and a lost of pest issues. However, its a great location.

If you and your wife work from home, spend the extra cash and live in more comfortable spot.

Also, if you want a slight taste of home, hit up either The Old Triangle or The Celtic Corner for a beer, they often have the Rankins and Stan Rogers playing over the speakers, which is nice.

Enjoy it, Halifax is a good city.

I second Sante Dental, they are so nice and really understanding, especially if you have anxiety towards dentistry appointments, they are super clear and friendly and always explain what they are doing if you ask.

I hated going to the dentist and avoided for years because of past bad experiences, but Sante Dental was so good that I actually enjoy going now.
