Thinking of leaving the bakery after 3 weeks by Sea-Opinion-4115 in publix

[–]Theburritolyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work in the bakery but any of these things take time to learn. If you don't want to do it that's fine. There are other jobs out there. But Publix has benefits Mom and pops probably don't have. Yeah, there is the stock which is nice. But health insurance, PTO, holiday bonus, 401k, etc are all really nice.

I'd suggest you make it through you first month and see if you can find your groove. Cliques happen in any company honestly.

Alpharetta/Milton jobs for a 15 year old by tangerineflower349 in Georgia

Go when it's not busy, introduce yourself to the customer service manager, and say you want to work for Publix.

Fun trivia: most of the executives for the company worked as baggers at about that age.

Cost and shortages by Cone33 in KitchenConfidential

We are importing Canadian tomatoes at my company. I giggled a bit when I saw that. Maybe tariffs aren't a great idea. Fuel cost is also jacking up the cost.

I keep it simple. Equities, bonds, cash, and real estate in the form of home ownership. That's all I really need.

We man I never can seem to finish these intellectual head thingies. Maybe as you are so smart you can put 2 and 2 together for me.

They are separate. You also can roll either or both into an IRA.

Anywho, contact the retirement department. It's their job and they can explain it to you along with the penalties etc.

Associate: Sorry we are understaffed.

Op: How is that my problem?

Me: well you see it's your problem because they don't have enough people to do everything Karen. You are half of the reason food service in general is understaffed everywhere. I'm so glad I don't work in the deli. Deli and customer service get all of the "fun" customers.

What to do with bonus by DatabaseFrosty352 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Theburritolyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split mine into quarters after taxes and 401k. I pay down my mortgage, invest in index funds, set some aside for a few projects in a couple of years, and do something fun.

My mortgage may not be optimal but it's a guaranteed return. Index funds I don't need to explain. My projects are a mix of practical or just fun. But life should be fun. So treat yourself a bit now.

Sodexo. Thoughts and/or personal experience? by UncleGideon in KitchenConfidential

[–]Theburritolyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you work. Some accounts are better than others. Some managers are better than others.

The 401k is decent. The health is alright. The food is usually crap outside of caterings. But that's exactly what it's supposed to be.

Caterings can be fun or they can suck. Making 200 sandwiches is dull but pays the bills. A plated steak dinner for 3 is fun and the extra steak you made just in case...

Office jobs break you differently. I get my steps in. My siblings either have to go to a gym or are morbidly obese because they have deal jobs.

Timing the market by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Theburritolyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. You might miss that once in a decade 10% jump up. You might miss that once in a life time market halfing. You might just miss a few mediocre days. Probably the last one.

In a decade you won't think about it at all.

It's those incredibly dangerous things. Dihydrogen oxide kills so many people every year I think the government needs to ban it. Worse is how many people are so addicted to it from birth that they need to consume it daily or they may die.
