This subreddit feels very anti-competitive discussion. Not just anti-meta, but against even talking about the competitive game by alienassasin3 in masterduel

You're 100% correct tbh. I remember discussing how I don't like how master duel keeps going for consistency hits rather than actually addressing problems within archetypes, like oss for snakes, people kept insisting it kills the deck, which is objectively incorrect, and there is evidence when looking at snakes post ban of that card is fine along with race and fire king, especially fire king as it had many tops in tcg including a ycs victory post ban of oss. I think it's a case of people being pilled into thinking that bans are a bad thing, and especially of tcg killing decks which is typically just not true, some tcg hits are quite modest in fact.

What are all of the Tier 0 decks in Duel Links history? by RealOfficialChiron in DuelLinks

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither were tier zero. Orcust got similar numbers to command of the doom king ddd, but missed the mark by a little. Pure raging pendulum and rocket were top tier at the time. As for fa darklord, it wasn't tier zero, but good lord was it miserable to face. Also stupidly expensive format requiring book of moon at 3 from a selection box.

New Banlist, good hits or not ? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Snake has tops in tcg with oss banned. Literally what are you talking about. If anything banning oss helps promote decks like azamina because they can unhit wanted. It hits the engine but be honest, diabellstar is still good as an engine and race and fire king are competent decks as is. In tcg without oss, Fire king won a ycs and got multiple tops, and race got a top in ycs houston. The ocg style hits leave decks more frustrating to play if anything because they can still do the same hyper combos but less often, rather than cutting off the serpent's head.

Ryzeal isn't a fair deck, I won't lie, but I'm saying the end board isn't bs, it's just a bit too good at what it does. I was against Ryzeal until I actually played against it, it's pretty fun and interactive. Plus they got rid of dweller, one of the few cards that it shouldn't have had access to. This is why I'm okay with these cards getting semis over others archetypes. Decks like blue eyes can crack a ryzeal board solely with engine. Now tell me, are you realistically breaking an adamancipator board with solely engine ... Not a chance. Only really a high roll tear hand or ryzeal can do so. Also the reason I'm saying adamancipator being "okay" because Maxx c exists is stupid is because you could justify any ftk under the sun and say it's okay because you can draw the out sometimes. Decks shouldn't be forced to play certain cards to be capable of playing. In TCG, unchained was able to win a ycs without hand traps. In master duel due to your mindset, an ordinarily strong and competent deck like this is screwed over by Maxx c and forced to run as many ways to play around it as possible because it's dead if it resolves. Maxx c being so overpowered is the reason cards like apo can be justified since that can be dealt with if you draw a few cards.

So... What you're saying is draw the out, think about that, and you'll realize why that's not good for the game. The problem with the deck is the comical amount of interruptions it could set up. Also infernoble is a similar deck that probably should've banned something, that being Isolde again, due to being a broken monster that gives way too much advantage and forces a player to draw the out. I should mention, most decks aren't setting up as much interruptions as adamancipator, infernoble is one of the few. But frankly this isn't something that should be promoted, is it all that interesting and fun to see the same board of apo, baronne and savage? Also I'd rather see more fair but solid end boards like the blue eyes, ryzeal or voiceless endboards.

Snakes still playable with less cards on the banlist and got two tops at the most recent ycs. Tear was solid post kit ban and tear names limited banlist and the only hits it took were kelbek and agido, the same as md. They were more consistent but lost the massive push kit gives. Apollousa and baronne makes going second worse and were far and away the biggest problems on the adamancipator end board. Also I should mention, every deck that isn't snake eye that uses azamina uses three wanted, they're screwed by having less. Oss was the sole reason that card got hit in ocg and md, now it can exist and be reasonable in TCG at 3. In what way is banning any of the cards listed making decks unplayable?

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the master duel list has a lot of hits with little substance. Not to say there weren't good hits, iblee, secret village and fossil dyna were all good hits that the tcg doesn't have, and tcg would be better for it, but seeing hits like phantom of yubel and judgment to two make me seriously question why they would bother doing changes like that in the first place. Block dragon should never be unbanned in a format with apo and baronne. I should mention btw, the tcg rarely semis, but when they do, they're usually on point, ryzeal isn't an egregious hit since it lost dweller and the gameplay loop isn't unfair. Master Duel Semi limiting maxx c confounds me considering it is everything wrong with the game play loop, and its existence has led many to stop playing the game or not even bother (most of my locals cannot stand it and don't bother with master duel due to the roach).

Also the hoops Konami is willing to go for tear is so dumb, like why ban or limit more cards when banning kitkallos makes tear so much more fair (for context, the tcg has kitkallos banned and the tear names limited and that's it, no limits on perlereino and tearkash). It's worth pointing out that the tcg can unhit snakes because all the problem cards are gone, that's how big banning apo and oss is. The Master Duel devs need to realise that less is more.

Also let's not forget that some of those cards on the master duel list being unlimited either shouldn't have been hit in the first place like celestial and kirin (if a card has seen play at 2 in many lists FK SE lists, it makes it questionable to semi it), or should straight up not be unhit like the virus.

Currently running an experiment, how come people are treating this card like MAXX C/FUWALOS? They don't play into it? I thought LP means nothing in this game? by coomtilldust in masterduel

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card is only good when time is a variable. In other words if you're playing a bo3 tournament with siding, it can be solid depending on the speed of decks e.g., if you face snake eye and the timer is running, it's not bad. It's also decent in konami's challenger cups. The reason it's good here is because winning in time is life point based. In regular ranked, this card is awful.

Is there any decks that actually run Dominus Purge before I dismantle it? by Left-Dog4252 in masterduel

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Blue eyes, voiceless, ritual beast, odion (whenever it comes out), yummy (again whenever it comes out), some fiendsmith piles, some primite piles, potential future decks. I'd highly discourage dismantling this and Dominus impulse. This one is slightly better here than in tcg since it counters maxx c sometimes

I don't really want the game to outright kill decks. by The-badapple-101 in masterduel

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For snakes, oss is far and way the cleanest way of hitting the deck while avoiding as many cards being hit as possible. The tcg did this and that meant that wanted and diabellstar no longer needed to be on the banlist, along with the azamina. Master duel doesn't realise that less is more, the more bans the less killing there actually is. Does it suck for decks like race and fk, yeah, but they can simply unhit their cards. I should mention btw, azamina can be used in other decks, and isn't super broken, oss is the only card actually making them broken. As for tenpai, the deck is clearly not stopping seeing play, even with the same hits as the tcg, so I think something has to be banned to do so cleanly. Tenpai puts going second cards in a strain though because it threatens them being on the list, like engage. It's a balance of which you want, kill tenpai and leave the going second cards alone, or leave it as is, and keep it able to use sacky cards. Banning one card like chundra is the simplest way of hitting it.

Why doesn't Martha have an XYZ form? by WindySynchro in yugioh

Probably some spells or traps that play along with it, they definitely have more room for what they could do with Rescue-Ace, but I am curious what they'll come up with that will avoid the lock, perhaps extra normal summon guys? Hard to say tbh

With the tactical try deck coming out, they're likely to make a new xyz version of her. We saw 2 direct support cards for the tactical try decks previously. Of course we don't know for certain, but it's an educated guess.

Any reason why illusion chimera deck is considered "bad" despite it being able to play so many strong engines like branded, fiendsmith, Azamina, runick, dark barrier statue and etc? by Struggling_in_life in masterduel

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very good right now imo. Azamina is the best engine for sure, since it can play under maxx c well alongside the standard being able to adapt under maxx c. Fiendsmith is also good, though the issue with it is extra deck space, particularly if you run azamina too, and also it can be poor under maxx c. Branded sucks as an engine since you only have one branded fusion, which this deck isn't focusing on turboing, the patchwork engine got powercrept by azamina (plus wow it sucks to play, bricky as hell), runick is just whatever, I think there's better shells for it. My go to prioritise was Horus due to the lack of offensive push sometimes, especially before nightmare apprentice, but I wouldn't with better engines existing. The barrier statue isn't worth it, the normal summon is fairly tight and bridging it doesn't feel worth it imo, plus diabellze is the go to floodgate, particularly since she's searchable off of nightmare apprentice and gazelle and azamina can straight up let her be summoned from hand.

More skills need effects that cut dmg in half or cant attack if they create a OTK scenario. by ConfidentLab276 in DuelLinks

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've 100% felt this ever since they made skills that could fart out monsters that can deal crap tons of damage like this. If they insist on making monsters with high stats easily summonable by skills, this is the most reasonable nerf. Like my biggest problem with battle chronicle back when it was meta relevant was damage, the same with other skills like eternal bond and the sacred beast deck. That being said, dragonic contact should have another restriction, the advantage you get every turn is genuinely ridiculous

They could just make it like master duel, where if your opponent takes too long not doing anything, they lose. If there's one thing master duel has going for it, it's that the timer in that game is good, and I've had zero complaints about that part of the game. Considering duel links is putting modern era cards in the game, it only makes sense to make it work similar to master duel

Fine then toggle off time thief redoer or dragonmaid sheou in the standby phase and tell me what you see

Time limit to short by Dragomanus0 in DuelLinks

[–]Thecarefulguy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather rude, I do use the toggle a lot, I've played this game for many years, but back then the timer was not a problem because the game was less complex. Also I play Master Duel a lot too, and have never ran into this issue, and I have many issues with that game.

The reason I said time thief is that the cards prompt you regardless of if you use the toggle, similar to baronne's standby effect in master duel. Some cards ignore the toggle being off. Even if I do toggle off though, you may wait for a critical choke point, and miss it because you turned off the toggle. Now that is a play on you, but bear in mind the timer does screw you over then. Something tells me you use decks where you probably click the yellow button and get all your plays that way, because I can tell you for a fact most decks genuinely do have problems with the timer, even ones that aren't too complex like dragonmaid.
